SDCC Transformers news winds down with the Evolution of Transformers Animation Panel. hosted by Hasbro and Shout! Factory. Not a lot of news or reveals on the news front, but we do get overview of the cartoons from the USA and Japan with details on how these toons have been translated for news release. Despite what Comic-Con International states on their San Diego Comic-Con 2011 exclusives page, it looks like Shout! Factory will not be offering their Fortress Maximus lithograph as a bonus with the purchase of the Transformers Japanese DVD Collection, citing that "[i]t's not quite ready." Back at the end of June, Shout! informed customers about the delay of the Transformers Japanese Collection Box Set
and cancelled existing pre-orders, citing the uncertainty of a release date. Continue reading
The folks over at TVShowsOnDVD have updated their site with more news about Shout! Factory re-releasing the 15 Disc Matrix of Leadership Edition: Collector’s Set: Today Shout! has announced that they will collect the 15 DVDs from the season sets into a new package titled "The Transformers - The Complete Original Series", an "unlimited" general retail release which will become available starting May 24th. It will include all on-disc content from those four separate packages (including the bonus material, but it will NOT have the extras which were exclusive to the Matrix of Leadership set; sorry).

This one's got Rodimus holding up the Matrix to ward off the Decepticon warriors Scourge, Cyclonus and Galvatron as Unicron's head looms in the distance. Pretty spiffy. , the set will be released into the mainstream and onto store shelves on October 13th in Canada and in the U.S. a week later on October 20th. That's right, the same day as Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen
. How convenient. Unfortunately, the suggested retail price is $169.95, which is considerably higher than the $140.00 price tag being offered directly
from Shout! Factory.
In case you guys wanted to pickup the three episodes that started it all, Shout! Factory will be releasing a Generation 1 More Than Meets the Eye DVD. The single DVD contains More Than Meets the Eye Parts 1, 2, and 3, as well as bonus episodes Transport to Oblivion and Roll Out. The set will be available September 1, 2009 with an MSRP of $9.99.
