Modified Ninja on Facebook has posted numerous photos of a custom project to turn the Combiner Wars Wheeljack - already virtually a blank canvas - in to Exhaust, the character built around the Diaclone 'Marlboro' Wheeljack deco that caused so much legal trouble as a Masterpiece.
While this would fare no better as a retail product, we think it's a good show of more innovative character choices that could have been - and perhaps held off mold fatigue a bit longer. Click through to see some mirrored photos and a link back to the full original Facebook album!
A customizer who goes by @yasuu22 on Twitter has posted images of their take on BotCon 2016's Magnaboss figure - and you can definitely say it's an upgrade! Going well above and beyond the mere sticker sheets for the retail versions of Silverbolt, Prowl, and Ironhide, yasuu22 has given each of the three a full Beast Wars makeover! Keep reading to see the mirrored images.
Twitter user KlejpullCustom has debuted his new account with an image of his spectacular custom of Megatron as seen in IDW's More Than Meets The Eye!
The Polish artist boasts that no part of the figure is 3D printed and that it's hand-made and fully accurate to the comic. We've no reason to doubt that claim, and it looks great besides! Keep reading to see for yourself.
Transformers Devastation went with a very specific visual style to work with cel-shading and bring a cartoon-like finish to its character models. LEK Custom Toys was inspired by that, and produced custom repaints of Masterpiece Optimus and Soundwave to match. The paint jobs feature no lack of skill, as they look every bit like the game designs made real thanks to careful matching of the simulated reflectivity of the surfaces that bring about that same cartoon-like impression. We've mirrored a few photos of each, but there's lots more on LEK's Facebook. Keep reading for photos and links!
Twitter user Herakuwa has posted images of a really impressive Combiner Wars custom Raiden! Using Hot Spot as the torso and the Blades/Alpha Bravo mold for the limbs, Herakuwa has also incorporated Million Publishing Shouki as the sixth member of the team. This dedication becomes perhaps even more impressive when you consider that none of the Combiner Wars figures are even available in Japan yet, meaning that all of the components except Shouki had to be imported. Keep reading to see!
I took the Generations Roadbuster figure and added a 3D printed head, the rifle from a 1/60 Gundam Wing Zero figure and cobbled together his mini-gun from my junk bin and viola! The old guy looks good! Thanks for looking. Also up on eBay.
Fans in America are quick to forget about those Bayformers robots. However, in Shanghai a Hunan father and son team have turned away from farming vegetables to the much more profitable endeavor of building Transformers robots statues out of car parts. According to a report on Shanghaist, they are taking in 1 million yuan ~ $160,00 usd each year.
TFormers Forums user Gikpa
has done a slick photoshoot showing off a creative use or three for Powerglide on his custom Ultra Prime! In addition to making a pretty dynamic chest plate for Voyager Optimus Prime, he makes a pretty good missile rack on each shoulder and bulks up the torso even more. Later in the spread a couple of Blackjacks and some custom jointed hands get thrown into the mix as well - keep reading for the photos!
Jamie Young of the Facebook page Foamtastic Props has constructed his very own life-sized replica of G1 Ravage! Quite possibly a bit larger than life in fact, Young's Ravage is constructed primarily from foam anti-fatigue mats. Young reports that since the photos used in the article were taken, he's added Ravage's hip rockets and also constructed a Laserbeak! Keep reading to see it all!
