The end of the IDW Transformers universe as we know it proceeds in July, with the first two issues of the Unicron miniseries takes us on a tour of Unicron's dinner buffet, while the double-dose of Optimus Prime issues 21 and 22 carries on the story, Meanwhile, Lost Light #21 and #22 move toward wrapping up the story More Than Meets The Eye embarked on so long ago, and wrapping it up with something completely different, we've got the second issue of the Bumblebee Movie's prequel comic tie in with 60's spy action. And be warned before proceeding, there are spoilers present in the solicitations for this month's books! That, and cover previews can be found below.

Bleeding Cool's Rich Johnston has posted some SPOILERS for Unicron #0, the Free Comic Book Day issue intended to kick off the universe-concluding event for IDW's Transformers/shared Hasbro universe. The excerpt concerns the origins of the Spaceknights and their armor, and how it all serves to closer tie together the already closely-aligned IDW comics. Keep reading only if you want part of Unicron #0 spoiled for you!

Just up on iTunes, we have a three-page preview of the Optimus Prime #17 comic book. “The Falling,” Part 3: Onyx Prime sows the seeds of chaos and panic on Cybertron as he reveals dark secrets… but nothing will prepare Optimus Prime and his allies for Onyx’s darkest revelation!

Per Newsarama, Hasbro Group Editor Sarah Gaydos, who took the job after John Barber stepped down from his editorial duties at IDW in 2016, is moving to a newly-created job at Oni Press. Gaydos will become the Editorial Director of Licensed Publishing at Oni shortly, apparently leaving IDW without a Hasbro Group Editor in the wake of the Unicron universe-ending event. Which honestly makes us even more anxious to see what comes after that. Keep reading for more details.

Once again from Gamerlingual we have images of the comic packed in with LG-EX Greatshot. Though much of the detail of what's going on is hard to get from just the art, one element is pretty clear: the expectations of some fans have been met, and it looks like Greatshot's Headmaster is being explained as a revived form of Chromedome's friend Jack, who Sixshot killed in The Headmasters. This takes advantage of the Titan Master sculpt for Sixshot taking design cues from that character model, and that mold element being reused for this release. Click through to have a look at the new comic.

We've got our first look at the comic included with LG-EX Grand Maximus. These first images are photos of the pages, so they're not the absolute highest quality, but they're pretty good for now. Not that we think higher quality scans would lead to the comic making all that much more sense in absence of the dialogue to tie it together. The show-stealer though is an appearance of Black Zarak embodied as a recolored Doubledealer using the Scorponok Titan Master that came with Grotusque. Not something we expect to ever see for sale, but an interesting use of resources. You can puzzle along with it in the gallery below while we hope for a translation in the near future!

IDW have updated the listings on their website for the upcoming issues 17 and 18 of Optimus Prime to finally show off the main covers for the issues, both featuring the art of regular interior artist Kei Zama. These issues continue on the storyline of "The Falling", with the return of Onyx Prime. We've previously seen variant covers for these issues as part of their initial solicitation, but this marks our first look at the "A" covers for each. Click through now to get a good look at both!

IDW writers James Roberts and John Barber both confirmed on Twitter yesterday that IDW will continue to publish Transformers comics in a new continuity once the upcoming Unicron series closes out the first IDW universe. What shape that new universe will take is currently unknown, as is who will be writing it - but IDW Transformers comics will continue, and that sounds like good news to us. Keep reading!

Leoric and Ironhide only have hours left to save Cybertron from destruction, while Virulina tries to harness the life energy of Leoric’s captured friends to accelerate the end. Now Leoric must somehow detonate the counter-wave bomb and rescue his people. And the clock is ticking.

Newsarama has posted an IDW press release that have shown us the exact shape of Unicron - literally and figuratively! Featuring the first image of IDW Unicron by artist Alex Milne, the series is also revealed as a 6-issue biweekly series beginning in July - and one that will mark the end of IDW's continuity as we know it. Read on for details!

Previews World has posted the latest round of comic solicits, taking us in to the summer. Notable on the block this month is the return of IDW's movie continuity tie in comics, once again written by John Barber and to feature interior art by Andrew Griffith. This time out it's a prequel to the Bumblebee movie, noted as being aimed at younger readers. Apart from that, we have the usual Optimus Prime and two Lost Light issues, plus some trades including a complete collection of the Wreckers titles. Keep reading for all the solicits and (a few) cover previews!

WonderCon is coming to Los Angeles and IDW Publishing will be there with a bevy of new products, exclusives, debuts and panels galore! Over on the Free Comic Book Day website, writer John Barber and artist Alex Milne have given an interview about their FCBD offering, Unicron #0! Barber outright calls Unicron "the end of the story we've been telling for over a decade," and touts the involvement of all of IDW's current TF writers in the planning of the story. Keep reading for an excerpt about Unicron #0, and a link to the full interview where Milne & Barber talk about what comics mean to them!
