Tfans member Star Seeker let us know about the January 2007 issue of Popular Science that includes a blurb entitled 'TRANSFORMERS: THE MOVIE' which reads: "Planet Earth is the front line in the epic battle between Autobots and Decepticons when director Michael Bay's live-action movie Transformers opens on July 4. Based on the animated series and popular action figures of the early 1980s, Bay's Transformers (brought to life by CGI) can change from, say, a 25-foot humanity-hating robot into a deadly jet fighter in four seconds flat." AutobotMaximal of the Tfans forums, has posted an update with details on this month's ToyFare magazine that's running a bit on the Transformers movie: There's a 5 page article about the 2007 Transformers Movie that starts out by mentioning that writers Alex Kurtzman and Robert Orci have been friends since high school and mentions the shows they started their careers working on. There is a pretty good interview, where they asked the pair things such as "were they Transfans as kids", to which they both said that they were. Check out the complete update at
Superherohype has posted scans of the February 2007 Empire Magazine featuring an article on the Transformers Movie. The article talks about the fans' reaction of the designs and how dedicated the creative minds are to the movie among other things. "We took the animated versions of [the robots] and we put them into a real world to see what it would look like and it looked silly," says Producer Lorenzo DiBonaventura of the changed movie designs. Check out the scans in the Superherohype post. The scans are big enough to read the article when fully magnified on the site. See the article here
I've just seen the subscribers copy of Empire magazine UK (which i believe gets sent out early), and the front cover features a huge pic of movie Optimus Prime. Its a frontal view, with him standing at a slight angle with him looking directly at you. The face design seems to have been updated since those concepts were doing the rounds, and doesn't feature the "dopey" look of the aforementioned. Its very Prime like, and I personally feel they've captured his spirit well. You can see for yourself when the magazine gets released, which I think is on Jan 3. View the images HERE
