Generation 1 BLOGs Generation 1

Times really have changed. It used to be if you didn't see a show on the TV at the time it was on, you had to wait for the video tapes, if they were released. Then came the DVD, YouTube, On-Demand and now we got more options to watch stuff than time to keep up with everything. Luckily, we have wonderful DVD sets being offered these days that package the whole season and or series into one set at a reasonable cost so you can keep up with the latest Prime and other Transformers shows from the past in our dedicated section to Transformers DVD Releases.

I'm sure I'm not the only one around who gets crap about the amount of money I spend on Transformers. Until recently, I always thought it wasn't THAT bad. Now, I'm not so sure. This is getting ridiculously expensive now! While on one hand, I can understand some raise in the prices due to higher production and shipping, but I think it's grown beyond that. I honestly think it's to a point where retailers are beginning to get wise to what collectors are willing to spend and are adjusting their prices to reflect it.

Hi everyone, I'm sure this topic has been discussed to death but I'm getting a bit lost among the different MP Primes. I really want to get one, with a trailer to house Sideswipe but which is the best one to get? Is it MP-10 by Takara that's on sale from Big Bad Toy Store? It doesn't look as premium as other MP Prime's I've seen... perhaps my mind is playing tricks on me. What do you think is the best Master Piece Optimus Prime Figure? Read and share your comments with Jack going on now in the Topic Discussion.

I don't know if we should be happy or sad about this news. Most Transformers fans know what kind of hurt Micheal Bay's vision (or lack of) has put on the franchise. Even though the moves raked in a ton of money, it left our beloved robots for retail road kill. Now, there's a rumor circling that the new Robocop could be rebooted as a Transformer. According to the post over at Bleeding Cool, the robot cop we all know and love is getting a makeover with a “social mode” that transforms to “combat mode” and back. Even if the news is untrue, what do you think about Hollywood Transforming our favorite movies like this?

I just spent a good portion of my Saturday starting or finishing some custom paint jobs on some Classics Transformers into Diaclone colors... And it hit me, HOW does these 3rd party and KO's of retired toy molds hurt Hasbro/Takara? 3rd party toys, like the new Power Master Prime that just came out, now THAT is impressive, however you still NEED the ORIGINAL TF Classics Prime from hasbro/takara in order for it to work. Read the full post and share your comments after the jump.

Transformers have so much to offer over the 25+ years they have been in action that we can't resist sharing some of the fun and lore from time to time. What is more fun than tying in some humor to make fun of our favorite factions and characters. Here's one we think will give you a chuckle and impress you with the awsum transforming creativity that fans can do. No, this is not some new toy. Its just a joke, for fun. See it and comment after the jump.

With what will most probably be the last of the Bay movies looming on the horizon I guess it's not too early to start to reflect a bit on this "Bayformer" era. Also, where is the future of the movie franchise and just the TF franchise in general going from here on out? Join the discussion now to read and share your insights on what's next for Transformers after the jump.

Continuing on our reminiscence of upcoming Encore figures, we look at four of many cassette soldiers. Coinciding with issue #15 of the Encore lineup, we take a look at Decepticons Ravage and Laserbeak, as well as Autobots Eject and Rewind. To view the history on these four, click here.

Imagine if Generation 1 seekers had there own robot companion like G1 Targetmasters and later Mini-cons in Armada? Thanks to an auction posted by favorite Ebay sellers senuseret72, we've got some details and a prototype pics showing this was an actual concept that Hasbro considered back in the day. Using G1 Skywarp accessories, the kitbashed companion figure shown is demo of made for the G1 seekers series figures to have a mini companion to be sold either as a package or separately.

For 2009, Takara has more plans in place for their Encore series. #16 on their list is Bruticus, comprised of 5 Combaticons that form one super robot. This set has been utilized several times since it's introduction in 1986. This blog looks into the history of this team, as well as some of it's individual members. In the past year, Takara has introduced another G1 reissue line known as Encore. Recently, they have added another wave to their release schedule. One of these releases will be Omega Supreme. Omega Supreme has traditionally been known as the powerhouse, and often times, last defense of the Autobot army. However, he (like other Transformers) started life out very differently. Click here to read on.

Last month, we looked at the figure known as Ironhide. This time around, we take a look at his twin, the medic Ratchet. Click here to read the full story
