Transformers may not have made it to the Toy Hall of Fame this year, but there's still a chance for some recognition on a more limited scale. The Toy Indistry Association has announced the nominees for the 2017 Toy of The Year awards, and in the action figures category, Transformers stand tall represented by Generations Fortress Maximus. Most of the awards will be decided by the toy industry, but a people's choice award will also allow the general public to pick their own winners. Keep reading to see what Fortress Maximus is up against in the action figure category, and for relevant links!
As we settle in to the holiday shopping season, we're quite pleased to find that some price breaks have been visited upon Transformers in order to motivate additional sales. Right now, both Walmart and Target in the United States have been reported as reducing the price of Deluxes to about $10. Local participation may vary, as will inventory levels of course, but this may be well timed: Wave 3 is on the way in, and these reductions and brand new toys may very well meet before prices return to normal! And if not, this would be an excellent time to buy an extra figure or two to donate to Toys For Tots! Happy hunting!
We've got word this afternoon from Jim Sorenson that Liokaiser is now available to order from exclusive seller Entertainment Earth. But there's a slight catch. The set appears on page 3 of the newest catalog, but not yet on the website itself, meaning that it's currently only possible to place an order by phone. We also have a price on the set, which now comes in at $129.99 - a bit higher than we had heard previously, though it does qualify for free shipping. We've got a link to the catalog and the phone number to place an order in the full post, so keep reading!
If the in-store hunt for the Walgreens exclusive Brainstorm has you pulling your hair out so far because you're in an area that hasn't received an allocation just yet, we have good news! The Walgreens website now has Brainstorm listed and in stock to order right now! It's priced at the full $19.99, rather than the slight discount some locations are currently offering, and our attempt showed a basic shipping cost of about $6, so you'll pay a bit extra, but versus time, gas, and potential stress in the hunt, it might be worth it! With the toy packaging favoring brevity, to put it mildly, the old days of character bios seem to be behind us. But where the packages are unable to provide, Hasbro is still filling in some extra info via their Transformers website. The various product pages for the first two waves of Titans Return carry generally at least somewhat enhanced character blurbs that offer a little more detail. Some of these have been seen previously, but for most of wave 2 we're getting first looks at things like Titan Master powers, plus some nice touches of flavor in the character writing. Keep reading for a collection of all the bios to date!
Hasbro's "Twas The Night Before" NYCC event certainly did not disappoint this year. While it can be hard to compare with the debut of an entirely new product line, Hasbro brought their best to wow the invited guests as well as the much larger audience watching from home. There was a lot of material to take in, though, so we're going to run through what we saw and try to fill in some details where possible. Keep reading to find out more!
If you spent the year so far undecided on the Combiner Wars boxsets, this may be your time to act! Hasbro Toy Shop's Ebay page currently features an extreme price reduction on the first two sets - G2 Superion and G2 Menasor. We expect this price won't last long as they're obviously trying to clear old stock, so act fast if you want to add these toys to your collection at probably the best non-secondhand price you'll find! Links are below, so keep reading. UPDATE:
They keep going in and out of stock, so check back regularly if you miss out on one attempt!
Hasbro wrapped up their final Botcon product preview panel this year with a tease of the long-awaited Overlord. Now thanks to frequent source Mr. Chaos
who has relayed more store computer info, we have confirmation of that figure and its status as a Leader Class figure! Overlord's assortment is to come after Sixshot, which should mean wave 4. More interesting is the other figure in the assortment, listed as Sky Shadow. Could this be the name for Sixshot's recolor/retool? Or might this be an all new mold? With luck, New York Comic Con may tell the tale in another month's time!
It's been a while, but by way of one Mr Chaos who has related reliable information in this area before we have some info on future product assortments for Titans Return. Coincidentally verifying Broadside, whose color testshot we got a first look at yesterday
, we have some additional Voyagers, Titans Masters, and a Legends assortment to look forward to! You can find all of that information in the full article below, so keep reading and let's see what's up!
By way of Previews World, we have news of a case revision you'll want to know about! Titans Return Deluxe wave 2 will have later shipments seeing the return of the wave 1 Deluxes, with one each of Hardhead, Scourge, Blurr, and Skullsmasher. These will ship alongside two each of Chromedome and Highbrow. Though it's often hard to predict how prevalent remix cases like this will be at general retail, it's probably a good idea to make sure to get Mindwipe and Wolfwire (Weirdwolf) as soon as you can. Might this feature Skullsmasher with improved joint tolerances? Or just be extra chance to army build Sweeps? Let's wait and find out!
Since the debut of Machinima's Combiner Wars animated series, a couple of interviews have turned up giving some behind the scene insight to the cartoon. Next is a quick interview by ComicBookMovie.com, talking to Amy Johnston who voiced Maxima, Windblade's companion who made quite an impact in her appearance in the first webisode. We've highlighted some selections of both articles below, so keep reading to check it out.
TFCLUB on Weibo has collected together some of the information revealed from Cybertron Con, some of which we're hearing for the first time. Among things already known to us are Liokaiser's status as a Platinum Edition set, and apparent acknowledgement of the gun-to-submarine transition in Sixshot, we have some really interesting hints about things that maybe are yet to come in Titans Return, and even beyond? Keep reading to find out more!
From a variety of sighting reports it looks like the Titan Master assortment is finally appearing at brick and mortar retail in the US. Both of the first two assortments are being found at different stores, with Target seeming to be the current store of choice for wave 1, including Nightbeat, Crashbash, and more. Meanwhile Toy R Us seems to have skipped ahead to wave 2. For those looking for a hunt, we have the Target DPCI number for this new pricepoint, and a link to an inventory tracker site to help point you in the right direction. Keep reading!

Adam Pawlus of 16bit.com and Entertainment Earth has posted to his site about the upcoming Platinum Edition Liokaiser! He's clarified that the price on Liokaiser will be closer to $119.99 - a bit higher than the average Combiner Wars boxset but not unreasonably so in our opinion. He also said that, to his knowledge, Liokaiser will close out the Combiner Wars line in the US. Click on through for more info!
