RID 2015 News RID 2015

With the January solicits, we discovered Robots in Disguise was not on the offerings for the beginning of 2016, leading us to pose the question whether the book would be continuing past December or if something else had happened. Unfortunately we've gotten the answer straight from writer Georgia Ball's tumblr page that indeed, issue 6 will be the last for the tie-in book. She gives a pretty detailed explanation of the factors involved that's definitely worth a read, so click through for a snippet and then a link back to the blog post.

Rick Sellers, a voice actor who has contributed his talents to Transformers toys in the past has posted some interesting updates to his Facebook page. First is a lengthy post describing a job for Hasbro, referring to a new toy that couldn't be named, but subtle hints were included. Following this was a video, opening with the clear voice of Starscream - or Cobra Commander, perhaps. The toy is described as being intended for Robots in Disguise, making it seem that Starscream will finally have some presence - at least in the toyline. Keep reading for a copy of the text and embedded video!

Along with the update featuring the silhouetted presumed Titan Wars teaser for NYCC, Hasbro Pulse is featuring some high res images of ...well, the same finished computer renders of the Warrior Class toys from the exclusive Clash Of The Transformers sub-branding. While most of this is far from new, these shots do end up giving us probably the best look at the faceplated version of Megatronus so far - at least until more actual toy photos roll in! Click through to check out the mirrored images.

Very shortly after a testshot appeared alerting us to its existence, Warrior Class Megatronus has been found at a Toys R Us in Reno, Nevada. Its packaging identifies it as an exclusive in the Clash Of The Transformers branding, but what's interesting is it features a different head sculpt than the testshot, sporting a full battle mask. Megatronus was thought to be part of a Warrior assortment also containing Fracture and recolors of Optimus and Bumblebee, and that may well still be the case, using the testshot's unmasked face to distinguish versions. TFW2005 has posted images of a Hasbro brochure from the MIP Junior Conference in Europe - the venue where we recently discovered the "on offer" status of RID's second season. The brochure gives current/projected episode counts for the properties Hasbro is shopping around this season... and RID's episode count is given as 45. This would mean a nineteen episode second season, and cast serious doubts on the series' original plan of 3x26-episode seasons. Read on for more details!

We seem to have confirmation that a second season of the Robots in Disguise cartoon will be happening. World Screen magazine published a brief highlight of what Hasbro Studios would be presenting at MIPJunior, a licensing event for children's TV and related media, including a new RID season. While it's been assumed another season would follow, this does seem to be our first actual confirmation. We may hear about this during NYCC early in October, but it's probably too soon to expect any meaningful details. Read on to see a brief statement and the promo image!

Coming from, of all places, Kmart's website, we have a first look at RID2015 Drift's mission-oriented character recolor. Blizzard Strike Drift, which we prefer to think of as Snow Drift, sports a nice blue and white deco with some stylized "camo" spots along the edges, making for a reasonably attractive figure in both modes. The item is not currently available via Kmart, but if this strikes your interest, it should hopefully be popping up at other retailers in the near future. Click through to see the pictures!

Amazon's product pages for upcoming Legion Class RID figures Patrol Strongarm and Ultra Magnus now feature stock photos of both figures. Magnus is a recolor of Legion Class Optimus Prime, with the deco favoring that Optimus design quite well; Patrol Strongarm is a black and white deco of Strongarm. Neither are available to even preorder right now, but it may not be long before these find their way to North American retail. Keep reading to see all the mirrored images!

A number of reports are getting around today indicating that after a lengthy period of availability in Canada, the United States is finally seeing Clash of The Transformers appear in Toys R Us. The sightings currently focus around New England, but are sure to spread out. The full range of figures - Warriors, Legion, and quick-change styles - have been reported, so anything you're after should be ready to go. Just remember Toys R Us already had RID priced on the high side, and exclusives will probably get even more "collector tax" added!

Toys R Us Canada's website has posted product pages for two of the Warrior Class figures for the exclusive Clash of The Transformers subline. Optimus and Sideswipe have been seen a bit and are available at retail in Canada, but at the moment these seem to be our best looks at these toys. This line will be making its way to Toys R Us in the US in the near future, so be on the lookout if these appeal to you! Click through to check out the photos.

Next up tonight we've got promotional shots of the Clash of The Transformers RID items, featuring new recolors of this year's figures with Legion versus packs and Three-Step large figures of Bumblebee, Optimus, and Megatronus. This line is exclusive to Toys R Us, and has already started appearing at stores in a few markets outside the US. Click through to check out the pictures and official product information!

The Allspark has posted a few quick shots of the Warrior Class Sideswipe redeco from the exclusive Clash Of The Transformers sub-branding. Serving to give us a better sense of how the toy came out in production, the photos don't go in to much detail, but will certainly do until more, better photos turn up. We've mirrored a couple of the shots, so keep reading to check those out and get a link back to the Allspark album.

A poster on Cybertron.ca has reported finding the first Warrior Class figures from the store exclusive sub-branding of RID, Clash of The Transformers. So far featuring a grey Sideswipe, blue-striped Bumblebee, and an Optimus with more black in the deco, they're not the most amazing entries, but that may change as this redeco line moves forward. There's an in-store photo for reference which we've mirrored, so keep reading to have a look!

ToysRUs.com.au has posted the first images of a TRU exclusive Mega 5-step figure of Megatronus! Retailing at $59.99 AUD (About $47 USD), the figure's product page also has a description that contains SPOILERS for Robots In Disguise. If you want to see, click here and keep reading!

Autobase Aichi's Facebook page has been updated with galleries featuring both of the initial Mini-Con Deployer figures, Fracture and Drift. Each figure is relatively simple, existing just to facilitate the launching gimmick, but at least in Fracture's case may be a viable alternative to the only other toy option right now, a One-Step Changer. We've mirrored a few photos of each toy, so click through to check those out and get links back to the original galleries!
