Hasbro's quarterly earnings report is in, and the third quarter of 2016 represents the highest quarterly revenue and earnings in the company's history. While their relatively recent acquisition of the Disney Princesses license is the star here, effectively doubling their revenue in the Girls' Toys category, Boys' Toys have had a good year as well, with Transformers cited as one of the brands experiencing growth. ComicBlitz, the “All You Can Eat” subscription service, announce a partnership with IDW Publishing, as a digital distributor for the premier comics publisher. Hundreds of comics and graphic novels will be rolling out over the next few months on the platform, starting today with over 125 issues of titles such as Transformers, GI Joe, Star Trek, My Little Pony, Dungeons & Dragons, Locke & Key, The Crow, and more!

The agreement takes effect April 2017. G.I. JOE, M.A.S.K., and Other New Titles Explode Out of September’s Bi-Weekly Event Series

Hasbro today announced that it has acquired Boulder Media, a multi-award winning Irish animation company based in Dublin. Boulder has produced a variety of award-winning series for Cartoon Network, Nickelodeon, Disney and BBC. As a wholly-owned subsidiary, Boulder will continue to produce animated series on behalf of third-party clients, in addition to producing animation projects for Hasbro’s best-known brands.
In a surprising piece of news, IDW has issued a press release announcing that John Barber will no longer be an editor for the company. While he remains with IDW as a writer and reportedly will continue on The Transformers
, he is also mentioned as being involved with two unannounced comics related to the Revolution

The 2016 Eisner Award nominations recognized IDW Publishing and its imprints, Top Shelf, The Library of American Comics, and Yoe! Books with a combined ten nods (nine nominations and one shared nomination) this year, with books being represented in multiple categories including Best Publication for Teens, Best Reality-Based Work, Best Archival Collection/Project—Strips, and more. Bloomberg Business is reporting that insiders close to the matter have come forward indicating that for some months now Hasbro and Mattel have been having talks about merging the two companies. According to the sources, Hasbro has initiated the discussion, perhaps hoping to capitalize on the fact that they've recently won certain Disney licenses previously held by Mattel to pursue the deal while the other company is slightly weakened. So far there's no indication of any formal deals taking place. Could the deal even move forward if agreements were struck? And what would it mean for Transformers? Keep reading.
