G.I. JOE, M.A.S.K., and Other New Titles Explode Out of September’s Bi-Weekly Event Series San Diego, CA (July 21, 2016) – This September, the 5-part bi-weekly REVOLUTION will forever impact the future of Transformers, G.I. Joe, ROM, Micronauts, Action Man, and M.A.S.K.: Mobile Armored Strike Kommand, establishing a cohesive comic book universe for all these characters and titles. Spinning out of those universe-defining events, multiple exciting new Hasbro-licensed titles will follow shortly thereafter to pick up the story where Revolution leaves off.

Hasbro is making its awaited return to Comic-Con International in San Diego, California. The company’s portfolio of brands will be represented in and around the convention, and will include TRANSFORMERS, MY LITTLE PONY, G.I. JOE, MICRONAUTS, VISIONARIES, PIE FACE and WIZARDS OF THE COAST as well as partner brands including DREAMWORKS ANIMATION’S TROLLS, YO-KAI WATCH, alongside STAR WARS, MARVEL’S AVENGERS, DISNEY’S MOANA, DISNEY’S ELENA OF AVALOR, DISNEY’S DESCENDANTS, and more.

With just a week left until San Diego Comic-Con, IDW and Top Shelf are officially unveiling their schedule for the weekend; including incredible signings, and must-see panels. Take note, because you won’t want to miss any of the fun at the booth, or your first look at exciting new projects on the panels!

Hasbro today announced that it has acquired Boulder Media, a multi-award winning Irish animation company based in Dublin. Boulder has produced a variety of award-winning series for Cartoon Network, Nickelodeon, Disney and BBC. As a wholly-owned subsidiary, Boulder will continue to produce animated series on behalf of third-party clients, in addition to producing animation projects for Hasbro’s best-known brands.

In a surprising piece of news, IDW has issued a press release announcing that John Barber will no longer be an editor for the company. While he remains with IDW as a writer and reportedly will continue on The Transformers, he is also mentioned as being involved with two unannounced comics related to the Revolution shared Hasbro universe. Our good friend Joe Moscone has let us know that he's once again working to raise funds for charity from the collection of toys he's built up over the years. Working a decade as PR representative for Hasbro's many toy lines such as Transformers, GI Joe and Star Wars. The 2016 Eisner Award nominations recognized IDW Publishing and its imprints, Top Shelf, The Library of American Comics, and Yoe! Books with a combined ten nods (nine nominations and one shared nomination) this year, with books being represented in multiple categories including Best Publication for Teens, Best Reality-Based Work, Best Archival Collection/Project—Strips, and more. Bloomberg Business is reporting that insiders close to the matter have come forward indicating that for some months now Hasbro and Mattel have been having talks about merging the two companies. According to the sources, Hasbro has initiated the discussion, perhaps hoping to capitalize on the fact that they've recently won certain Disney licenses previously held by Mattel to pursue the deal while the other company is slightly weakened. So far there's no indication of any formal deals taking place. Could the deal even move forward if agreements were struck? And what would it mean for Transformers? Keep reading.
