Transformers Autocracy, Why G1 and What Went Wrong with Power Core Combiners

Running Time 56:57

This week we pay our last respects to Power Core Combiners, we hardly knew you. We discuss TF Prime: Speed Metal, the eHobby Autobot Three Pack, Transformers Ongoing and Rising Storm and more!
Listen below!

Need more fodder for your army? Didn't think the Power Core Combiner 5 packs were worth full price? Target is where you want to be this week, as they are selling all 5-pack sets for $9.99/EA! The sale runs through 2/19.

Hasbro's Lead Designer Eric Seibenaler said it would be happening back in November of last year, and now we know that the Power Core Combiners figure Spastic will be named Over-Run instead. The figure, when first announced, created a bit of controversy, with the name being considered insensitive for some Transfans based in the U.K. where the word is used to describe a person with the birth defect cerebral palsy in a derogatory way. Hasbro explained that the figure will not be sold in the U.K. Read more.

Thanks to YouTube reviewer fxfranz who has posted a video review of the Transformers Power Core Combiners Skyhammer with Airlift action figures. Get a hands on look at this team up in the video after the jump.

As we wrap up our PCC coverage, we take a look at the remaining Wave 3 figure Crankcase. Some might wonder why Crankcase didn't end up as Motormaster. While I can't answer that, I can direct you to this review that looks at the Destron force.

Thanks to Hasbro's Lead Designer Eric Siebenaler who has reported on Facebook that "Spastic," the Transformers Power Core Combiner action figure will be renamed. This is due to the UK public demanding the Stunticons set that included the Transformers toy be changed due to the derogatory nature of the name. Hasbro has previously stated that it does not have any intentions to release the set in the UK.

Bear with me, I'm almost done with the PCC coverage. On deck now is Darkstream and his partner Razorbeam. Originally, Darkstream was Skyburst, who didn't fare so well in his review. Perhaps he'll do better paired with a minicon? Click here to find out!

Continuing with our spotlight of the repainted Power Core Combiner figures, we take a look at Steelshot. Previously, this mold was Bombshock, part of a 5 piece set. Now, Steelshot makes do with a repaint of Searchlight's minicon. We know 2pk commanders fare well when used as a combiner, but how do 5pk commanders do with just a minicon? You'll find answers here.

Repaints are inescapable. However, once in awhile a repaint that makes sense comes around. With PCC only being out 2mos, and many more repaints more than likely coming down the line, one so far has stood out in many people's minds. We feature that commander, Windburn, in this review.

Are you ready for a flood of repaints? No? Can't help you there for the time being, as the entirety of PCC's wave 3 will be just that. Smolder has been repainted and given a mixture of drones to become Stakeout. Get more details by reading this review.

You may or may not have heard of the semi-uproar last week when it was revealed that the leader of the Power Core Combiners Stunticon team has been named Spastic. In a case of English words meaning different things in different regions of the World, according to Wikipedia, in the UK, "spastic" is used to describe an individual with the birth defect cerebral palsy. The word is meant to describe a hyperactive individual in the United States. Read more.

Thanks to YouTube video reviewer Peaugh who has posted a new video review of the Power Core Combiners action figures team Steamhammer with the Constructicons. Again, Hasbro has stated these figures are not related to the the Generation 1 series toys or characters. Check out these very G1-like PCC figures with many angles as only Peaugh can do after the jump.

The holidays are fast approaching, and there's evidence the toy aisles are gearing up. The third wave of Power Core Combiners are starting to filter in and we've managed to add most of that wave to the database. Click on the links to get looks at Stakeout, Darkstream w/Razorbeam, Windburn w/Darkray and Steelshot w/Beacon.

Just sighted the Transformers Power Core Combiners wave 3 at the Walmart store in Pleasanton, California. They had the new two packs that include: Windburn with Darkray, Steelshot with Beacon, and Darkstream with Razorbeam. Have you seen these toys in your area? Post your sightings for other to see.
