By way of Autobase Aichi, Facebook user Eddy Melendez
has shared a series of photos of Robots In Disguise
Custom Kreons! The characters available are Optimus Prime, Bumblebee, Sideswipe, and Grimlock, and appear to be available in Regular, Blizzard Strike, and Night Strike color schemes. Each of the four characters comes with their own unique weapons, but the armor pieces seem to be repeated across all 12 variants. Keep reading for the photos!
At the very tail-end of the Kre-O line came the Kreon Battle Changers, which... honestly should've been the idea since the start! Thanks to Autobase Aichi, we know that these built-up, transforming versions of the Kreon minifigures have been spotted at a California Dollar General by Facebook and TFWiki user Eddy Melendez, who posted these photos to a private Facebook group. This seems to be one of the first US sightings of the Collection 3 Megatron and Ironhide. Keep reading to see!
Greg "M Sipher" Sepelak has made an interesting discovery about the reissued blind-bag Kreon Micro-Changers appearing at US dollar stores - they're not reissues at all! They're entirely reversioned pieces using the updated 2015 Kreon body and entirely new tampograph applications. Keep reading for an example photo as well as more info on the differences!
You haven't seen the last of Kre-O in the US yet! Engledogg reports spotting two new $12 sets at his local Dollar General store. One features a repackaging of the Beast Hunters sub-branding Beast Blade Optimus Prime now as Beast Hunter Optimus Prime, and the other is a grouped set of the micro combiner Superion, Bruticus and Menasor, packaged as Combiner Robot Mega Pack. While for the remaining fans of the line this may not be the news they would hope for, it may still be promising that the branding is being kept going in some way in the US. TFW2005 user Hollywood Hoist has found a nifty novelty: a new plush Optimus Prime that is clearly based on his Kreon minifigure! The plush is marked with a price of $19.99 and was found in a Washington-state Target store. Keep reading to see the photo!
If you've been hoping to get the Kreon Battle Changers and a deal on a pair of pants at the same time, you're in luck! TFW2005 board member almightymaximus
has sighted the figures along with other late-model Kre-O sets at discount chain Marshall's! As is the usual pattern with a sighting at Marshall's, checking out its sister TJ Maxx stores may also be beneficial to you, and possibly even the unrelated but similar discount chains such as Ross. The SDCC Kre-O exclusive for the year is a pile of fun toys and references to pop culture, all plucked from 1985 and wrapped up in a spiffy yearbook package. And in addition to an attractive presentation, it's also the most cost-effective Comic-Con exclusive of the year! Continue to the review for video and photos!
Following up on last year's Kreon Class of `84 set, Gizmodo Toyland reports that Hasbro will be bringing the class of 1985 to Comic Con International this year! Featuring the vast majority of the toys introduced in 1985 plus Alpha Trion, this 30-Kreon set sports some extremely referential bonus accessories and will run $60, same as the Class of `84. $2 a Kreon is not bad at all! The webmaster for Seibertron.com reports having found a couple cases of Kre-O Micro Changers at Dollar Tree! The wave in question is Age Of Extinction Wave 2, which features almost entirely G1 and Beast Wars-inspired Kreons. This isn't an entirely unprecedented thing, as Hasbro's Beyblade spinoff toyline Beywarriors has also been appearing in Dollar Tree stores. Keep reading for a photo of what was found and list of what's in the wave!
Optimus Prime doesn't get a lot of downtime. He's usually either fighting the Decepticons, or dead. But Kre-O Optimus Prime has taken working as a hibachi chef in his spare time in this commecial from Stoopid Buddy Studios (Robot Chicken
), a simple life he seems to enjoy... when Megatron lets him. Keep reading to see the video!
Entertainment Earth has listed a new series of Kre-O sets. The "Small Cubes" are shown in this instance as vehicle mode builds based on Ratchet or Prowl, with each kit including two Kreon figures. While the building portion may not necessarily appeal to everyone as you're simply building cars with no robot option, Kreon collectors will surely love to hate this new method for feeding their mini-figure addiction. Thanks to the TFCC on twitter who have posted an image of the Toy Fair 2015 exclusive Transformers Kreon Optimus Prime figure in the package. We're not sure what the repaint refers to, but it looks like a winter colors theme. We will post more details and images on this soon!
Youtube user chuckdawg1999 is back with a video about Kre-O Battlechanger Bumblebee. Following on from Optimus Prime, we get a good look at another of these builds that take the more positive qualities of Kreon Microchangers and bring in more brick involvement. Between these two and the Soundwave we showed you photos of yesterday, the Battlechanger line is looking like a strong move in the evolution of Kre-O. Click through to check out the video!
From SamsungHK we have a batch of new photos showing off Soundwave, part of a two-pack coming up in the new Kre-O Battlechangers series of transforming figure kits. While we don't have photos of Ratchet, the other side of this set, we do see Soundwave comes with a full set of little buddies in the form of Ravage and Laserbeak mini-builds, and Rumble and Frenzy represented by the smaller scale Kreons. The photos even show a way that they can all incorporate with Soundwave in both modes. Keep reading and check it all out!
