TakaraTomy Retailer Listings Reveal New Movie Product Coming in 2018
ExVee - Thursday, October 26, 2017

Loopaza on Facebook has shared information from retailer listings, revealing TakaraTomy releases for new movie products starting in April of next year - and if you pay attention to leak info, some of this is going to sound familiar! Along with this news is further signs of Movie Masterpiece Barricade being on the way, with MPM-5 among the listed goods. We'll go through the list for you, so keep reading!

You can see the image relating the information just below for the original context, but here's a run down:

Based on price points, we can identify three size classes of product, corresponding to Deluxe, Voyager, and Leader - albeit at a little lower price than we typically expect from Japanese Leader Class releases.

In the Deluxes we have Bumblebee, Stinger, Decepticon Crowbar, and Ratchet. These are all listed at ¥2800. That's followed by two Voyagers, Optimus Prime and Starscream at ¥4500. Finally, the Leader Class is represented with Grimlock, and Blackout, which are priced at ¥6800. All of these have the "Transformers Movie" prefix in the listings.

There is definitely possibilities for reused molds to be present here, but at least some of these can be anticipated to be newly designed - especially since in a case like Starscream, that character hasn't been in the presented size class since before the economic downturn a few years ago that made releasing older molds sometimes tricky without price increases.

Also worth noting, there are (so far) no Legends Series listings showing up. We went through a few month stretch early this year with Legends on hiatus, and with TakaraTomy mostly having used all the Titans Returns toolings available (minus a few Titan Master vehicles mainly), we may well be looking a short break before Japanese versions of Power of The Primes begin.

A piece on Variety earlier this week reveals that Huahua Media out of China and Paramount Pictures are ending what was supposed to be a multi-year investment deal that would see the Chinese company contribute financing to numerous film productions. If this sounds vaguely familiar, it should. In August, Paramount execs flew to China to smooth things over after a string of movies - most recent at the time being Transformers: The Last Knight - failed to perform to expectations. Paramount says they'll pursue financing partnerships elsewhere - including with Hasbro - but on the whole it's probably still not good news at all. Keep reading for more details!
The usual Weibo source has turned up what appears to be some package-back images for the upcoming Movie Edition Brawl & Megatron figures! The differences are subtle, with each figure being shown in its backdrop display on its own packaging with the other taking the first position in the "Build The Cast" lineup. Keep reading to see.
A Toys R Us employee who requests to remain unidentified but has a reliable track record has revealed some new discoveries from the inventory system, featuring mainly new Movie-series merchandise, plus a couple of as-yet unknown exclusives. Keep reading for a full list!
Following on from the release of The Last Knight in a 4K edition, we've now got listing via Best Buy for releases of the previous 4 movies at the same "Ultra HD" quality. Coming in standard combo packs with 4K, blu-ray, and digital formats, the rest of the movie series is due out on December 5th, priced at $27.99 each. The covers boast of added high dynamic range to deepen the the color detail, however we presume this process is still not capable of deepening the plots of the films. Keep reading for cover samples.
