Generation 1 Seekers Companion Product Mock Up Revealed

Imagine if Generation 1 seekers had there own little robot companion like we saw with Targetmasters later in G1 and the Mini-cons in Armada? Thanks to an auction posted by one of our favorite Ebay sellers senuseret72, we've got some details and a prototype showing this was an actual concept that Hasbro considered back in the day.

This auction is for a rare, vintage G1 Skywarp mock-up prototype. This piece was created by a Hasbro designer and presented at a line meeting as consideration for a production toy during the early years of the Transformers toy line. Kit bashed from several different Skywarp parts, the idea was that the Gen1 Jets Series could have mini companion jets to be sold either as a package or separately. The idea wasn't accepted and this is the only known remaining piece from that pitch. Entirely hand made and glued together, this piece represents what might have been if Hasbro had approved the idea of companion jets. Prototypes and samples for the G1 line rarely surface, Skywarp prototypes and mock-ups surface even less often. Its always interesting to see what could have been. I always enjoy when Hasbro adds dimension to a Transformer by making accessories and weapons with multiple functions. The proto looks kind or simple, but I think this would have been a lot of fun along the lines of the cassettes.
