Wal-Mart Listings Confirm & Dish Out Spoilers! Plus New Unannounced Figures
bwbm - Tuesday, May 05, 2009

Wal-Mart.com has put up some live product pages today on multiple Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen figures which will undoubtedly spoil some of you. The lists confirm some previously-heard rumors and dish out some spoilers (do you see a trend with the bolding? Good) on the film and also reveal new figures that we never knew existed before.

First, some spoilers. As if the nickname "The Twins" of Skids and Mudflap weren't any indication, it seems the twins will indeed start out as the Ice Cream Truck. This alt-mode was spotted during the Bethlehem, PA shoot, where we saw the truck split in half.

This revelation today makes the news that the Twins combine that much more obvious. However, as the Empire article doesn't reveal which version of them combines, it is unknown whether or not the Beat and Trax versions will combine.

We get our first look at the Revenge Arcee figure, and she's red. The figure looks very close to the Chromia figure (also on Wal-Mart's website).

Also, some previously unannounced figures include:
Ravage Robot Heroes figure (so cute! -ed), Blaze Master, Swerve a red Sideways repaint, and a red Fast Action Battler Ironhide.

The ONLY thing that's making me hesitate on getting Prime is that I KNOW somewhere down the line, Hasbro's gonna release Premiums. Not to mention those red toes of his are driving me crazy.

It's just a matter of personal opinion folks. Some people like the simplistic, cartoony style of Animated while others like super-intricate, realistic styles shown in the movie.

The transformations are pretty clever, and in some cases quite marvelous, but once you think about it, a lot of them are basically glorified shell formers. At the core, most of the movie figures are really simply a matter of moving panels out of the way and unfolding the robot underneath. Animated ... read more

Surely a BIGGER spolier to this article was the inclusion of a pic of the Ice-cream truck toy mode thumbnail on the front page? Anyway, the only toy that seems worth money there is Blazemaster (amd only when he gets a "Universe" repaint later on). Arcee is obviously mis-transformed, righ... read more

The LA Times has published an article today talking about Hasbro's forward-looking plans with their feature film business. As we'd heard about previously, Hasbro is planning their own cinematic universe in the style of Marvel's movies, bolstered by the runaway success of the Transformers film series. This article goes in to a little more detail on early plans for that, including a new try at GI Joe. There's also a little bit about next year's Bumblebee-focused spin off movie. Keep reading for select excerpts and a link to the article!
With the new Transformers: The Last Knight coming our way. I thought it would be interesting to share something rare and likely unseen from the first Transformers (2007) movie where it all began, 10 years ago. Behold, one of the fanciest Transformers press-kits you may have ever seen. Those who attended the Toy Fair 2007 special preview event, were given one of these press kits that actually transforms!
Just up on the official Prime 1 Studio Group page is a first look at their soon to be released Transformers Dark of the Moon edition Shockwave statue. Emotionless, coldly logical, utterly ruthless... killing is all Shockwave lives for. - Optimus Prime. Transformers: Dark of the Moon SHOCKWAVE will be available soon for preorder this month stay tuned!
ThreeA has posted a preorder listing for their next Transformers Premium Scale Collectible Figure: Evasion Edition Optimus Prime from Transformers: Age of Extinction! The figure is in robot mode, so the callback to the Evasion Mode cab-forward truck is mainly one of deco. That said, there is a lot of deco on this figure. Keep reading to see!
Entertainment website Deadline is reporting that the Bumblebee-focused entry in the Transformers live action movie series due in 2018 now has a director on board. Travis Knight will have the distinction of directing the first live action film installment that won't be in Michael Bay's care. Knight was previously the director for Kubo And The Two Strings, and while that is a short credit list in this role, it's a pretty powerful first effort.
