BotCon 2009 - Music of the Transformers Panel

Friday second panel Music of the Transformers was ironically plagued with sound problems. After a dozen misunderstood and repeated questions Vince DiCola was forced to provide his own sound engineering by getting up and turning one of the audience speakers to face himself and Stan Bush up on stage so they could hear.

Questions ranged from the Party at Paramount play list (Yes you will hear Dare and the original version of The Touch, to the similaritys between The Unicron theme and the theme of Draco from Rocky Four (that score also by Mr. Dicola).

One fan presented Mr. Bush with a pencil drawn sketch of himself.

Mr. Dicola revealed that he was “hurt” that he was not approached to contribute to the contemporary film, Stan Bush’s self made Link’n Park’esque video speaks for it self on the subject. Mr. DiCola says while he has the utmost respect for Steve Jablonski and his Transformers ’07 score, he thought that the mechanical nature of the Transformers would have benefited from a better marriage of the orchestral and the techno.

Two new toys from Hasbro will feature an ’07 re-record of The Touch.

Botcon goers can look forward to Mr. Bush attempting to play his own song on Guitar Hero at the con. He was not optimistic about his virtual performance.

A video by Mr. DiCola, Rise of the Machines will debut later this evening at Botcon.

Stan Bush hopes to have a new album later this year, and Vince DiCola is involved in a progressive rock band that is also working on a new album.
