IDW Editor Andy Schmidt Talks Transformers #1 Details
MISP Steve - Thursday, November 05, 2009

Following up on the yesterday's Transformers #1 teaser and spoiler for those who read it. Comic Book Resources has posted an interview with IDW editor Andy Schmidt who talks about some of the decisions they made for the story and how to handle certain events. Citing they had to think a lot of it through and even get the sign off from Hasbro on certain elements. We're not letting on what's happening, read the article at Comic Book Resources.

They're trying to give them mechanized mouths... but it just looks like some one ripped all the skin of a human face from the nose down and then cut off the eyelids.

Call me crazy, but I don't mind the art. Looks good enough to me.

I need to agree this new art style is bad. They remind me of Gundam Bodies with parts of cars added to them. The faces are terrible.

The art quality's fine, it's the character designs that are awful. That Bumblebee thumbnail is the stuff of nightmares. I'm glad I didn't see those soulless eyes before I went to bed . . . brrrrr. Bumblebee is supposed to be friendly-looking - this is a monstrous parody of that. Th... read more

I really didn't like the art style they were doing for this but i thought i would give it a shot, however, you know a series isn't going your way when they kill off your favorite character in the first issue.

I agree, I am not diggin what I've seen so far. Dons art is crap now. did he have a stroke or something? The last work that I've enjoyed of his was the beast wars series. After this series fails in about 3 issues or so, hopefully IDW wises up and tells him to fix his style.

Once again, Twitter user @miiakira2017 has posted an image of their Transformers-related design work. Today, it's a classic car- the specific make, if any, eludes RAC - that would have turned into a laser pistol-wielding cowboy. Though there's a slight resemblance to 2010's Hunt for the Decepticons Scout-class Hubcap, the replies peg this as a Diaclone-era design, so well before that figure was designed and likely a coincidence. Keep reading to see!
Hobby Lobby has had a few waves now of different kinds of Transformers art stamped in to sheet metal. A new offering in this line has just recently hit, bringing some new choices. We found today two pieces featuring G1 Optimus, and Bumblebee, represented in the design of the 2006 Classics toy, at Hobby Lobby. They were priced at $18.99 each, which may seem a touch steep for something the size of perhaps a small calendar. But we can't deny the art on them look really sharp. Click through for images of both!
D3+Transformers Racing Unveils New Race Car for 2018 Competition at Petit Le Mans! The brightly colored red, black and white race car with the large Transformers Autobot shield on the nose was impressive at the highly attended press conference at the final race of the IMSA 2017 season. Read on for more info!
The @miiakira2017 Twitter account continues to share G1 design work! Today, we've got some sketches for Octane, described here in a very British way as a "Tank Lorry"; artwork for a pair of folding launcher bays designed in the Diaclone Car Robots days, and what are described as figure studies for "erasers," but don't seem to match either the Decoys or the G1 erasers that were produced - at least the US ones. Keep reading to see the images!
The younger generation needs Transformers as well. If you want your children to have Transformers that are slightly more involved than Rescue Bots, then this is the way to go.
