Rumor - Activision Developing a New Transformers Title Not Based on Film
Breaker - Friday, November 27, 2009

Game Informer reports a rumor in their latest issue that Activision is currently developing a new video game based on the Transformers franchise that will tie-in with a Transformers film's continuity.

"Activision's movie-based games are known for strictly adhering to the template of the films, often to those titles' detriment," reports Loose Talk, the rumors section in the magazine's epic issue number 200. "However, Loose Talk is hearing rumors that the publisher/developer is hard at work on another Transformers game, and we're told that this one isn't tied to the Michael Bay films."

This does not come as a surprise, as Activision's CEO Bobby Kotick has previously stated that he would like to see the Transformers video games become an "annual franchise."

And since Transformers 3 isn't slated for theaters until July 1, 2011, there needs to be a game to fill in the 2010 gap to fit the annual franchise bill, right?

The full report is below and may be found on page 29 of the latest Game Informer magazine, on magazine stands now.
    Transformers Transformation

Activision's movie-based games are known for strictly adhering to the template of the films, often to those titles' detriment. However, Loose Talk is hearing rumors that the publisher/developer is hard at work on another Transformers game, and we're told that this one isn't tied to the Michael Bay films. Could this have been the Transformers game that fans have deserved all along? Movie-based games games typically don't get the development time they need due to the need to meet the film's release date, and film tie-ins can hamper the storylines the game can explore on as well. This Transformers game sounds like it will get the freedom it needs.

I hope this rumor is true. The recent ROTF game although flawed had it's high moments particularly the character designs, animation, controls and of course the multiplayer modes. Taking those strengths and applying them to a new TF IP would be quite mouthwatering. Thinking off the cuff the m... read more

I doubt it would be for the new series. If this game is already in development then Activision would already need a plot as well as a slew of characters from the new show to fill the game's roster. And Im willing to bet at this point that all those characters whoever they may be are not even clo... read more

Im guessing its for the new show being annouced i believe in February, id be willing to bet on that more then a G1 game. It would make more sense, since nowadays everytime a new show comes out ESPECIALLY somthing like Transformers, a video game follows. And with the recent rumor of G1's writer w... read more

It is true that there is a Transformers project in the works. The code name of it is Transformers Ultimate. Well, I kinda saw the name of folder while I was working for Activision Blizzard. That is all I can confirm.

Hey as long as the new game has online multiplayer then I'd buy it for sure, that and if it is based on G1 then I'd love to play as Grimlock!

So are we to assume no more DLC for ROTF?
8:48 pm

Wow Great News. I really want one where its like those old Gundam fighter where you fought other gundams from the previous series. They could do it where you can use the bots and cons from all the series. And to make extra cash make certain characters buy able online. I can see it now Megatron G1 vs... read more

So, it seems lately that there's always something I don't like about Optimus prime figures and their paintjobs. Last time it was PRID OPtimus that I had to do something about, and since I've just got my Corbot V war axe in, I decided to finally tackle WFC Optimus. For those who are worried that they if they jump into Transformers War for Cybertron multiplayer now will be extremely far behind, have no fear: the multiplayer XP will now multiply by five starting on Monday until forever. This change is in effect for Microsoft Xbox 360, Sony Playstation 3, and PC versions only. So if you have been looking to max out all of your classes but have been too lazy to do it with only a 1 to 1 ratio for points, how about 5 to 1?
