Tony Todd Says He Will Return in Transformers 3

By bwbm on Monday, February 08, 2010

Tony Todd has revealed in a recent interview that he will return in Transformers 3 and explosions will also return.

He does not specify what role he will play in the film, but when asked if he will definitely return in Transformers 3, the Den of Geek quotes him as saying, "You want to quote me? What I was told last month, yes. But that's Hollywood!" When solicited on a little preview of the film, Mr. Todd said, "there's more of it!" and thumping on the desk with his hand while making explosion sounds, continuing, "Something along those lines!"

This is a little bit of a deviation from what Director Michael Bay said about the third addition to the franchise, which he said would rely less on the number of robots and explosions, but focus more on the robot character.

However, given the jump of explosions from Transformers to Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, less explosions could simply mean we return to the level of Transformers.

The following is the segment of the interview involving Transformers 3:
Den of Geek: Are you involved in Transformers 3 do you think?

    Tony Todd: Yes.

    Definitely?

You want to quote me? What I was told last month, yes. But that's Hollywood!

Is there anything you can tell us about it? It's got to be worth a try.

No! There's more of it! [Laughs, starts thumping desk and making explosion sound effects]. Something along those lines!
For the full interview, which discusses more of Mr. Todd's past and future work, head over to Den of Geek.

Hmm...my only thought is that Transformers 3 might have flashbacks showing the begining of the War...yes, we've seen it in comics, but it would be pretty impressive to show Megatron and Optimus ruling together, their falling out, the Fallen tempting Megs and the rise of the Decepticons. Especia... read more

Perhaps emboldened by the amazing success of Marvel's take on a shared continuity for its increasingly numerous movies and now TV projects, Hasbro has made known their plans to try this approach with the Transformers movie series. But what can we expect from this direction, and how might it affect Transformers 5? Keep reading for some thoughts.
In what may be remembered as the least surprising news of 2015, it sounds like Michael Bay will be returning again for the next installment in the Transformers film series. At CinemaCon, Vice Chairman of Paramount Rob Moore was said to have "promised" theatre owners attending the event that Bay was already in the process of developing the next Transformers movie. It was previously reported that Bay had opted to take on a different project which would keep him from directing a fifth Transformers movie. Keep reading for more!
Entertainment Weekly confirms that Hasbro has hired writer Akiva Goldsman to head up the writing team that will work on expanding the Transformers movie world into a broader cinematic franchise. CEO Brian Goldner revealed this in Hasbro's quarterly earnings conference call yesterday, and added that Transformers 5 is expected in 2017. A director is not mentioned, and while Michael Bay was named in connection with the project in rumors it's entirely logical that the financially successful director would be consulted on what "his" franchise would do next. Genetic of TFND has come through again with a huge gallery of photos of Optimus Prime Ultimate Edition, the most heavily equipped and painted version of Transformers 1-3 Optimus Prime you will ever see. The TransformersAsia Facebook page has posted a wealth of images of the new Ultimate Optimus Prime, showing off what almost has to be the definitive version of Optimus as he appeared in Transformers (2007), Revenge Of The Fallen, and Dark Of the Moon. The figure's due for release on April 24th but in the meantime you can keep reading to see the mirrored gallery of 43 images!
