G1 Transformers Infographic - More Than Meets the Alternate Mode

By robo_rob on Friday, January 28, 2011

The guys at Comic Alliance decided to put up an infographic about G1 Transformers for entertainment and information purposes. You know, because they love G1 so much and wanted to show a little of that love. Comically, they made quite a few mistakes. It gets downright hilarious by the bottom of the thing. Oddly enough, the thing came from a car insurance site.

This thing is actually kind of cool in its own way. It obviously can't be taken too seriously so I'm not going to waste time picking it apart. Two things though: 1)I loved the description of Rodimus Prime as a "Cybertronian RV". That is awesome. 2)The picture they used for Wheelie ... read more

Shame it was so poorly done. It would of been something neat to hang on the wall. As for Fast Lane, isn't he more a dragster than a "dune buggy"?

Props to frogDNA for his G1 animation styled RotF Prime being 'mistaken' as a cartoon image. =)

Wasn't U-haul the robots Megatron was using back during the Orion Pax days on Cybertron? And by now we should all know what that means! Actually wait, after looking over the image one more time I just have to say how grossly inaccurate some of these are!

Not to mention there were 1994 vehicles in a cartoon that aired in the 1980s. Nostradamus'd!

A 1994 Volkswagen Beetle for Goldbug you say... does VW know they made such a thing? (Yes, I know they made the old Type I for Mexico and all points south). I also don't remember 1985 Toyota HiLuxes looking like they did in 1978.

From the Twitter of tf-tf, we have a few new shots of the Platinum Series set featuring reissues of G1 Blaster and Perceptor. Intel Ops collects the two figures and three of Blaster's cassettes. It also adds a set of "slides" for Perceptor which we can now see have small images applied to view through microscope-mode Perceptor. The text of the tweet also suggests the mysterious extra accessory is a holder for the slides when not in use. Click through to have a look at all that, and a shot of the bio from the back of the box!
There's a new Transformers Soundwave coming our way from Mighty Fine to was offered as a Emerald City Comicon exclusive. For those who like blocky Transformers, this Soundwave Vinyl Figure is for you! Read on to see the images and more details below.
We've got slightly better looks at the package for another of the upcoming G1 reissue sets falling under the Platinum Series banner. Intel Ops featuring Blaster and three cassettes with Perceptor who's gotten some new microscope-related parts is likely to be the biggest of these sets to come along until the strongly rumored Trypticon would turn up. Unfortunately these photos don't really shed any more insights, especially towards Perceptor's new mystery accessory, but hopefully those details will be made clearer soon! Keep reading to see both images.
Transform and Roll Out the Sales! That's what is said to have surprised investors on Hasbro's earnings report of a 10% lift in quarterly boys product sales. This is despite the fact that many retailers profits have been slowed by the strong US Dollar. Hasbro cited their stable brand Transformers and other entertainment tie-ins such as Marvel as their leaders in sales last quarter, according to Forbes magazine.
It's been... what, maybe a couple weeks now? Which means it's time for another Japanese toy show. Today, courtesy of TAG Hobby, we've got new shots of Kotobukiya's upcoming D-Style model kits of Starscream, Skywarp, & Thundercracker, and they look pretty good! While Skywarp and Thundercracker are running in terror at the sight of Megatron, Starscream seems to have skipped straight to the dry heaves. Keep reading to see the images!
