2005 BotCon The Making Of TF:TM BotCon Panel

Botcon attendees were treated to a 45 minute showing of different still frames, pre-production artwork, and slideshows from the making of the 1986 animated motion picture, "Transformers : The Movie". Among the different images and slideshows exampled were several clips where the soundtrack to the movie had been added to flesh out the storyline. Included also were several deleted scenes that made gaps in the movie make much more sense.

Ever wonder why, in the scene at Autobot city where Prime came up behind Megatron for the first time, what Megatron was smiling at? Ever wonder why in the same sequence Devastator went from being combined to the six Constructicons running after the Autobots seperated? This was explained in the stills shown. Apparently the original scene included Ultra Magnus rolling into the scene with Red Alert and Tracks on his trailor, transforming they all shoot Devastator point blank with their missiles. Devastator seperates but then the Autobots are suddenly overrun by all six constructicons coming at them seperately.

The rumored alternate scene of Galvatron killing Ultra Magnus was shown in the stills and set to music. This shows Galvatron ordering the Sweeps to dismember Ultra Magnus. Obeying their orders the four sweeps shoot energy beams that wrap around Magnus' four limbs and rip him apart. At which time the Matrix conveniently falls into Galvatron's hands. Set to the music and dialogue of the scene, all in attendance agreed that this made much more sense then what finally made it to production.
