2008 Transformers Collection Survey Results

By Goktimus Prime on Tuesday, January 06, 2009

So here's how many Transformers we owned in 2008...

32% of respondents have 100 Transformers or less.
20% of respondents have about 200 Transformers.
4% of respondents have about 300 Transformers.
10% of respondents have about 400 Transformers.
3% of respondents have about 500 Transformers.
2% of respondents have about 600 Transformers.
1% of respondents have about 700 Transformers.
1% of respondents have about 800 Transformers.
1% of respondents have about 900 Transformers.
26% of respondents have 1000 Transformers or more.

Comparison with 2007

100 or less --> Down by 2%
200 --> Up by 4%
300 --> Down by 7%
400 --> unchanged
500 --> Down by 4%
600 --> unchanged
700 --> Up by 1%
800 --> Down by 2%
900 --> Down by 1%
1000 or more --> Up by 12%

As we can see the category with the greatest change is the "1000 or more" category which saw the biggest increase between 2007 to 2008 with a 12% hike. This category has now overtaken the "200" category as the second largest majority next to "100 or less." The "100 or less" category remains the largest although now with only a 6% difference between "1000 or more."

It's interesting to see that most Transformers collectors' collections (58% of us) tend to number at one of the two extremes - most of us either have 100 or less or 1000 or more! Compare this with 2007 where 50% of us had collections number at about 200 or less.

Despite the fact that we all voted on the rules and that the rules are based on what we voted on. :/ There are some rules that I don't agree with - like how multiples count. I hate that... but the majority of people voted that multiples should count, therefore it's the rule and I accept it... read more

Thanks to ebay and reissue transformers, I finally completed my effin 1984 G1 collection this year... excluding the omnibots... I must say I got lots of transformers, that sadly more than half of them are in my storage, and the rest are in glorious display.

Don't worry. Goki does this survey every year. And EVERY year TFormers members get in a big argument over the "rules" of the survey. Though that may not happen this year because of certain recent happenings.

Wait, where was this survey at??? I want to take a survey like this. Not the boring and lame ass crap I have to take and don't have anyone really pay attention to... things like when do you want to make up a snow day? My answer is never... but that is so-o-o not an option. I feel like such a... read more

this was a relitivly small sample, i don't think bell curve dynamics would nessesarily apply...

I would have expected the graph to show the highest percentage as the "100 or less" category with the percentage steadily decreasing from there, or a least a traditional "bell curve."
