Transformers 4 - Michael Bay and Mark Wahlberg Team up on New Transformers Movie

By Jay on Saturday, November 10, 2012

After an exceptionally successful collaboration on the upcoming “Pain and Gain,” Michael Bay has cast Academy Award®-nominee Mark Wahlberg in the highly anticipated “TRANSFORMERS 4.” The film will hit theaters June 27th, 2014.

“Mark is awesome. We had a blast working on “Pain and Gain” and I’m so fired up to be back working with him. An actor of his caliber is the perfect guy to re-invigorate the franchise and carry on the Transformers’ legacy,” said Bay.

Bay will direct the next installment in the “TRANSFORMERS” series, which begins shooting next spring. From Paramount Pictures, a division of Viacom, Inc., in association with Hasbro, the film will be produced by Don Murphy & Tom DeSanto, Lorenzo di Bonaventura and Ian Bryce, and executive produced by Steven Spielberg, Bay, Brian Goldner and Mark Vahradian.

Bay’s first “TRANSFORMERS” film was a box office sensation in 2007, opening at #1 and earning more than $700 million worldwide. His second installment “TRANSFORMERS: REVENGE OF THE FALLEN” in 2009 grossed more than $830 million worldwide. In 2011, “TRANSFORMERS: DARK OF THE MOON” was an even bigger hit worldwide, grossing more than a billion dollars to become the 5th highest grossing film of all time. To date, the franchise has earned more than $2.6 billion worldwide.

From acclaimed director Michael Bay comes “Pain and Gain,” a new action comedy starring Mark Wahlberg, Dwayne Johnson and Anthony Mackie. Based on the unbelievable true story of three personal trainers in 1990s Miami who, in pursuit of the American Dream, get caught up in a criminal enterprise that goes horribly wrong. Ed Harris, Tony Shalhoub, Rob Corddry, Rebel Wilson, and Bar Paly also star. The film is based on magazine articles by Pete Collins, with a screenplay by Christopher Markus & Stephen McFeely and produced by Donald DeLine, Michael Bay and Ian Bryce.

“PAIN AND GAIN” opens in theaters everywhere April 26th, 2013.

We reported that a new deal had been made to include several landmark buidlings in Beijing, China as part of the movie. However, it was not clear to us then that Michael Bay was being asked to blow them up as well. Now things are starting to get interesting, as it was reveled the producers requested there be a battle where the Pangu Plaza Hotel is destroyed in the film. Also reported, the filming of the China and Hong Kong scenes are planned to begin October 2013.
The LA Times is reporting on the progress of the selection progress that will choose four Chinese actors to appear in the 2014 Transformers 4 movie. According to the article, over 70,000 people are competing for the chance to play one of the roles that are said to be "action guy," “tech geek,” “sexy goddess” and “cute girl.” Jiaflix Enterprises' Marc Ganis says that over half million people have voted online on after reviewing images, video screen tests, the actor's biographies.
Jason Bo has posted more news and images up from the Transformers 4 Elgin Texas shoot on set 6/16. The shooting appears to have moved into a garage or other complex with Mark Wahlberg appearing greased up like an auto mechanic. Also sighted on set were Nicola Peltz, TJ Miller, and a female actor going by the name of "Regan." There are also more images of cab over engine (COE) truck that were sighted. TFLAMB is reporting that Detroit is ramping UP for the arrival of the Transformers 4 production crew who are building long ramp on highway I-375 interchange at Jefferson Avenue. Bay is known for using lots of car chased and stunts in his movies. That ramp is sure to get a good workout sending all kind of vehicles flying possibly as part of the so-called "Car Chase from Hell" that Bay has mentioned previously.
There's a lot of clowns out there who want us to think they are some kind of insider. We didn't bother reporting on the "Rise of Galvatron" script that was circulating awhile ago as it was obviously a fake. However, it seems Michael Bay is tired of people falling for it and recently made a comment stating "I wanted you to hear from me directly that we have not yet chosen a title and anything being reported is absolutely not true."
