Over the weekend we brought you an early analysis of a screenshot from an episode of Cybercast featuring an interview with Pete Sinclair of Fun Publications where several toys could be seen that may be Botcon exclusives for this year. Since then we've continued analyzing the image and have made some updates and corrections to our original conclusions, and one may suggest a surprising move for convention exclusive toys - or we might be seeing another surprise entirely. If you're interested in toy spoilers in advance of official reveals, keep reading...
While we originally believed a blue Classics Bumblebee was among the group of toys in this photo, with further study we have identified Generations Legends Swerve's mold in a mainly blue and grey deco, accompanied by a partner figure in red and white, although despite our best efforts we could not tease enough detail out of the photo to get a hint at which mold it might be.
Additionally, with the discovery of that figure being Swerve, we could then realize the red and white Jazz recolor is carrying a blue weapon that doesn't seem to match the outline of the mold's standard gun. It may be a Nightstick recolor, but given the red and white and what seems to be gold accents, this may be a representation of the Action Master Rad who would more appropriately see an Arms Micron included to represent the partner figure as has been done with Subscription Service Treadshot, and the upcoming Krok and Tarantulas.
The rest remains consistent with the original analysis. Generations Springer may be Duocon Battletrap, or on a more obscure note Blue Bacchus from the Victory series, Arms Micron Breakdown's identity is still unclear just from the deco, and the Generations Rattrap recolor is very much Packrat.
The question mark remains with the Legends Swerve. It could be that it's finally been decided that toys of this general size class range are now worth doing in Botcon sets where previously they've been regarded as not being cost effective. This might open the door for more Legends figures to see use in the future, and give more flexibility than they could see with retail recolors. Certainly the first thing most people would be likely to consider is Go-Bots characters. The other possibility is that Swerve's presence there is coincidental. When Subscription Service 3 was announced, the secret final figure was said to be a Generations Legends mold. Could this represent that bonus figure, standing among a selection of this year's Botcon toys? Only time will tell.
