Alternity Megatron & MP Grimlock News Updates

By Caine on Sunday, October 12, 2008 @ 09:50:21 AM

SG Collect is reporting that the Nissan Fairlady Z (350Z in the United States) will serve as the alternate mode for the Transformers Alternity Megatron figure. The site also reports that the figure will be released in silver and blue versions, much like the Alternity GT-R Convoy is being released in silver and red.

Another rumor points to a price point and release date of the much-talked-about Masterpiece Grimlock.

SG Collect reports that Grimlock will cost 13,000 Yen (~$130 USD) and will hit store shelves in March 2009.

This news comes after TakaraTomy told us during BotCon 2008 back in April that the figure is in the planning/ pre-production stages.

Ah. Well, being a 280ZX-TF fan I feel your pain, but I really can't argue with the final product in robot mode. The BT Subaru mold is probably the most G1-accurate of them all (okay, tied for first with Hound). And you know that the Subaru is at a closer price point to the old 280ZX than its mod... read more

Maybe I should have been more clear. Yes Alternators/Binaltechs were what I meant by MP.However I wanted those characters to be the updated Nissans not Subarus.

The blue and silver Nissan Megs are also up for preorder on BBTS, FWIW.

^ that's debatable but I'll leaave that arguement to someone else. Damn it, I'm going to have to humker down and preorder this monster. I may be happy but my wallet isn't.

If he's G1-esque and 30cm tall in robot mode... that'd be one big-ass dino. *wonders if they'll go old school with the T-Rex look* faaaattt

Although, the average toy has shrunk somewhat lately. My guess is that he'll be the same height in robot mode as Optimus/Megs, not sure how that translates to dino mode, but if the Transformation is G1-esque, he'll likely be bulkier, which is probably where the extra cost comes.

For those that wanted confirmation, i read back in August on some Philippine site that Takara was showing Hasbro their ROTF Optimus Prime and Megatron leader toys for the up-coming line (meaning they're done with the prototypes) ALSO they showed Hasbro a sneak peak at MP-08, Grimlock and the pos... read more

Oh, don't get me wrong. I'll gladly pay $50 more if it's actually in scale with Prime (ie LARGER THAN), but it better weigh at least 20 lbs

*remembers the time they put up a pre-order for BT wheel jack saying it was a tracks remould about half a year before the real Mustang wheel jack started cropping up on the net*
