Dengeki Hobby has posted images of a new line of figures titled "Transformers Bitfig," due out in Late December. The assortment of inexpensive candy toys, styled similarly to Bandai's 66Action line, is specifically titled "Part 1," so obviously there are plans for more of these at some point in the future. But the first wave goes with a lot of the big names: Optimus Prime, Megatron, Starscream, and Jazz. If Bumblebee's not in Part 2 I'll be shocked. Keep reading for more info on the figures as well as the difference between "deformation style" and "super deformed"!
The figures are due in late December for a price of 300 Yen each - that's cheaper than Bandai's 66Action line, but those also tend to have articulation. These seem to be articulated at the "big five" - neck, shoulders, and hips. But then, these are also significantly smaller, as an ad for the line posted by Autobase Aichi gives their height as 40 millimeters, or slightly below two inches tall.
The figures are listed as "Deformation Style," which is a predecessor of the better known and more popular "Super Deformed" format. Deformation Style usually shows characters 3-4 heads tall - that is, the head takes up 1/3 of the total body mass. Super Deformed - the format perhaps best known for the many, many SD Gundam model kits, games, and TV shows - represents characters where the head takes up half the overall body mass... or sometimes even more.
