BotCon 08 Shattered Glass Comic 3-Page Preview

UPDATE: Ouch! Looks like we got smacked by TCC on this! The image from Page 3 says it all. Good April Fools Day joke guys! The original, unaltered Page 3 may be found in the gallery below.

While these are scheduled for release this Thursday, it seems that three pages of the BotCon 2008 Shattered Glass Convention comic has sprung loose.

The style of the book grabs its influences from the days of the Generation 1 Marvel comics. Take a preview of page 1, page 2, and page 3.

who's the bat/bird thing at the top of the last panel.

Looks like a repaint of Energon Divebomb

..did ANYONE read the last page where it says "April Fools" on it?

No because it isn't there. They added it in later on the official website ("Megatron's" word balloon was changed). Still, it was a nicely done little comic.

Emerje

yeah, apparently they took it down and posted the correct text before you got to read it XP oh wells. sorry chaps.

Fun comic. Would be a shame is this is not how the official one is going to be. Like the retro G2 look. When well drawn it really gives something extra to the look of the TF's. It makes it more gritty and that seems like a good thing for a mirror universe TF story.

But even after seeing several pictures of the toy and now seeing him in this 3-page comic, Starscream still looks like Jetfire to me. More a universe where Jetfire stayed with the Deceps then a good Starscream.

Surely the three figures in the foreground in the lab on page one are "Bumblebee/Goldbug's", Grimmy's and Jazz's G1 "Deluxe Pretender" bodies and not actionmasters?

That was my first impression

I thought it was Dezaras in Starsabre colours

The BotCon '05 Dezaras figure was based off of the RiD Megatron/Galvatron figure.

So I assume that the "Shattered Glass" Megatron figure's going to be RiD Megatron done in Optimus Prime colours.

exactly, they are painted either as other versions (thundercracker actionmaster) or as their main adversaries (Starscream, Grimlock.) or in some cases exactly the same (astrotrain, jazz)

it can be presumed that Dezaras (i refuse to say Deathsaurus, doesn't sound as good) is merely painted as Starsabre and is not Megatron.

GO MAYHEM DEFENSE SQUAD!!!

i like this a lot.

especially thundercracker's actionmaster colourscheme.

who's the bat/bird thing at the top of the last panel.

If this is the art style i will definately search out the release version

it would not suprise me then if that megatron design and the G2 thunder cracker are the bagged exclusives. and if that is true that means the grand total of toys I'd like to get from the con is..2 Grim and prime

I thought it was Dezaras in Starsabre colours

I fail to see how "You thought you were getting an awesome comic but you'll probably get a mediocre one instead! APRIL FOOLZ!!" is an effective marketing tactic, AT ALL.

Too bad it's a joke...that actually made me interested in the Botcon toys. G2-style art? British, proper, evil Grimlock? All win.

And the Grimlock/Starscream interaction mimicking the G2 Megatron/Bludgeon cover? Oh yes.
