BotCon 2009 - More Looks at Transformers Universe Redeco's

By Primus on Sunday, May 31, 2009

BotCon is over. Yet we're still reporting news for all you who missed what turned out to be a somewhat disappointing BotCon. Especially where Universe is concerned. Just three redeco figures from the ultra class we're on display this year. The Powerglide G1 colors, Hardtop from the Onslaught mold, and Skyjack recolored from the Superion mold. Check out the shots of them in robot mode with alternate shots from the previous day for reference.

as much as I'd love to have it, I just can't justify buying that powerglide, after I finally broke down and bought the universe version two weeks ago

Oh, HECK yes! Man, that Jetfire mold rocked, so it would make an Hooligan. I'd be all over that. I hope they keep up the repaints paying homage to those guys. I need a Space Case as well!

It's based on the IDW design of Hardhead, which turned into a six wheeled armored vehicle just like Universe Onslaught... and wasn't a Headmaster. Also, the original Hardhead's leg color was a tannish grey. Almost the same shade as fellow Headmaster Chromedome's feet.

Heavens no. Classics Jetfire as Hooligan. Muuuuuuch better. I would be so sad if Cybertron Thundercracker came out as Hooligan.

I didn't want Silverbolt and couldn't find Darkwing but I do like the mold so I'll be getting Skyjack. The others are rubbish however.

It's Hardhead not Hardtop... hard to read but it's right at the bottom of the picture on the card.

I don't blame them for repaints. Powerglide was demanded loudly and often by the fandom after the disappointing first one. The Onslaught mold was never repaint in the U.S. up till now, and Skyjack, it's FREAKING SKYJACK. I'm always happy to see some G2 love. I hope the box he comes in ac... read more

I was only skimming the pics from this con, and I thought that was Skyjack! I couldn't find any names beside it, but when I saw it I thought of my old favorite TF from the G2 days. This is awesome! I loved the heck outa Skyjack. I'm glad I skipped the other two versions of this m... read more

I know he had a translucent faceplate, I just wish they had maybe used a darker shade of yellow. Even though both Sideways and Blackjack have translucent faces, normally their faces are darkish and blend with the rest of their dark features. Although I like that idea of making the translucent hea... read more
