Transformers BotCon 2013 Machine Wars Theme Revealed - Soundwave, Megatron, Starscream, Laser Prime, Galvatron

By Jack on Monday, December 03, 2012

Thanks to Allspark forums member Walky, we have confirmation that the Transformers BotCon 2013 theme will be Machine Wars. The news was revealed in the latest edition of the TFCC Magazine that appears to be landing in people's mailboxes just about now. Word is the image shows teasers for Machine Wars Soundwave, Megatron, Starscream, Laser Prime (RTS) and Galvatron. We can only hope there will be some actual Machine Wars molds such as the Universe King Atlas (shown below) offered up instead of reduxed figures, but we'll have to wait and see.
Silhouettes of MW Soundwave, Megatron, and Starscream standing over a wrecked RTS Laser Prime and Galvatron. These "Machine Wars" are a premonition of the future as seen by Sizzle.

(I suppose it could be Megaplex, not Megatron. Might make more sense, given Galvatron's right there. Or not, who knows.)

Didn't think of Dread wing, even though he is one of my favorites of the Prime line. I can see Megaplex using that mold. Though I am hoping they use the movie verse figures, but I think Paramount might say something about that

Actually I was thinking TFP Voyager Dreadwing would be a better Representation of Megaplex, there are more than a few areas of the mold that line up pretty well with the original Megaplex, all he'd need is a new head.

RiD Megatron was considered an Ultra and the last two true Ultra's that were used for Botcon was 2006 BW Megatron, using the Ultra Cybertron Red Alert Mold 2010 G2 Clench using the Universe Ultra Onslaught Mold. The main thing is Pete said Voyager for the basics not Ultra Though Starscream co... read more

Was the RID Megatron mold an ultra? If so, then '05 with Deathsaurus.

Well according to Pete Sinclair, there will be new characters, so we won't be seeing all of the characters from MW as exclusives, though Megaplex was basically confirmed along with Megatron. Pete also said that some of the basics will now become Voyager size, and while colors will be the same, m... read more

Dear god I hope none of that comes to pass, also it was mentioned that just before last years botcon the A/E/C molds were being retired from Botcon, so we won't be seeing anything from there, and I'd rather see Wreckage retooled into MW Soundwave anyway. Also Optimus looks like he won't... read more

Don't forget, this is about likeness, not scale. I'm sure they'll use the Thunderwing mold again with a new head and chest for Starscream. If they're really basing this on the Machine Wars likenesses then Megatron will probably be the Seeker Jet mold. Optimus will probably be the lon... read more

Octopunch wasn't in the set, he was part of the two figure add-on, you're right about Gigatron, however no Voyager molds really exist that can capture anybody from the Machine Wars days, Universe Silverbolt would have been good for Starscream, but that's an Ultra, when was the last time... read more

TCC Magazine #67! Issue 67 of the TCC Magazine is starting to arrive. What will you get? ALL KINDS of great content including never before seen Transformers "Battle Beasts" designs from the 80's, the start of the new TCC comic story arc "Of Masters and Mayhem", the Back page feature with a comic by the very talented Josh Perez and first looks at the TFSS 5.0 figures Double Pretender Optimus Prime w/ HI-Q and Paradron Medic w/ Quickslinger.
John DeLuna has also shared tonight some pictures from the Club magazine featuring membership premium figure Ramjet, and Club Store exclusive Skywarp, both based on the Generations Armada Starscream tooling. The image of Ramjet gives a good look at the new face sculpt, plus the deco giving it the look of a glowing mouth. And we also get a look at a mockup of the packaging for Skywarp, taking heavily after classic Armada packaging. Keep reading to see both pictures!
As promised some while back, the newest TFCC magazine issue contains a preview for the fifth iteration of the Transformers Figure Subscription Service, which was announced even before the fourth had all its production samples revealed. Radio Free Cybertron's John DeLuna has tweeted out a photo of the preview page, showing two of the upcoming figures. Unsurprisingly there's a reuse of the Oilmaster Pretender shell created for Botcon 2015's boxset, and a not-so outside the box reuse of Generations Arcee. Keep reading to see what they are!
The Transformers Collector's Club has posted the first part of a new prose story by Andrew Hall! Featuring the Shattered Glass Minibots and sporting illustrations by Hayato Sakamoto, "Spatiotemporal Challengers Part 1: Sunrise" is available at the Club's website in a bilingual English/Japanese PDF file. Keep reading to see the cover illustration and get a link to the download page!
They must have heard us talking about them, as The Club has just followed up their reveal of Thunder Mayhem with a decent look at Impactor, the Rook retool that joins the fourth subscription set. This is also set to come with Generations Arcee's assortment of weapons, and is demonstrated here using one of the swords in place of Impactor's traditional harpoon attachment. We were able to enlarge the image just enough to get a decent view of the details of the new head sculpt, so you'll find that image along with the mirrored original below.
