Case of the Mondays: Upset Man Waves Megatron, Creates 3-hr Standoff

By bwbm on Monday, June 08, 2009

No, we're not two months late on the April Fool's joke, nor is this The Onion - TFormers edition.

A Windsor, Ontario man created a three hour stand-off last week after he became very upset after an apparent eviction from his apartment.

How? While he was "waving and yelling" during his tirade, he was also pointing his Generation 1 Megatron in gun mode outside the window of his apartment, according to The Windsor Star.

Obviously somebody called the cops, and a nearby elementary school went into lockdown mode as a precaution.

The man was arrested without fuss.

a situation like that the police will use caution, maybe search you further, but once they see it's a toy, they'll probably give it back, or keep it if they wanted one as a kid. Guess it all depends.

I was on a bus heading to Rochester, NY for Botcon 97, when police boarded the bus looking for contraband. They asked my friend and i why we were traveling. We said a convention. The officer asked what kind of convention. "Toys!" I said happily. They didn't search my bag. Lucky, to... read more

I'm actually surprised that it's been this long. When I was a kid, I carried Megatron around in gun mode with no problems. These days, I just wouldn't do it with any of my gun versions of Megatron (the ONLY version to have IMHO). It's a different world, and I wouldn't even thi... read more

Dam it! It was hard enough for me to find MP Megatron and G1 Megatron without an orange cap! Now people are going to have to pass a background check and get a permit! Or Megatron will be painted solid Hunters Orange from now on! Or they will just stop selling them all at all.

I have to go along with the cops on this one too. Although, how long before any future gun transformer (assuming there would ever be one in the future) is made all in orange or red.

Waved from a window an orange plug wouldn't help. I have some cop friends who've drawn their guns because a stick looked like a gun. They don't take chances, I don't blame them. If your stupid enough to not know this, then you deserve what you get. Cops raided my parents house becau... read more

You could be waving around a colonial blunderbuss out the window and still scare people.. for that matter, a cross bow. Age has nothing to do with it, the intention does. A weapon is a weapon .. in this case, a toy that looks very much like a weapon. Average Joe and Soccer Mom don't know this..... read more
