Classics Astrotrain does NOT Combine with Jetstorm?

By primal-convoy on Saturday, May 10, 2008 @ 03:18:09 PM

Fellow TFormers Forums member, "gizmo_spaz" has questioned whether a statement made by Hasbro concerning the ability of Classics Universe Astrotrain to combine with the Toys R Us exclusive movie Jetstorm (itself a recolour of Energon Jetfire) is actually true.

Read the official statement by Hasbro below and then watch the video to see his evidence.

Do YOU have these two figures? Do they combine or has Hasbro gone "all Wreck-Gar" on us all and made a mess of things? Post your comments below!

"This figure is loosely inspired by the AC-130 Spectre gunship that appears in the SCORPONOK battle scene at the beginning of the TRANSFORMERS movie. The more direct inspiration for this toy's jet mode is the Russian An-225 Mriya aircraft. The Mriya was used to transport the Russian space shuttle and, by a complete design fluke, Classics ASTROTRAIN can be attached to JETSTORM by its front landing gear." - Transformers.com

.... Ok. I'm sold! Will be trying the combination this weekend. So you say turn Jetfire's head around? ^_^

I bought Jetstorm last night and brought him into work this morning to play with Astrotrain. They don't snap together, but they sure look pretty cool on display in my cubicle!

here's a tip for people wanting to get astrotrain to fit a little (note still not so you can hold AT and not have jetstorm fall) more snuggly. Just turn Jetstorm's head around.

This might have had a little something to do with it... or at least the inspiration for it...

I had coincidentally purchased the Jetstorm figure the day before all this hooplah went down. I figured out the "flip" thing right away, but even knowing that, my Astrotrain just doesn't want to click into place. Ah well, no biggie.

Um.... Kill me for asking but ... why would we want to connect Astrotrain and Jet Storm? Nothing special happens like getting a ginormous gun or anything. I'm miffed.

It is cool. I'm going to be sorta driving by a Toys R' Us tomorrow, I'll have to swing in and see if they still have the Jetstorm I saw last time I was there. I won't use it at all with my movie toys, just with my Classics/RID/Titanium/Music Soundwave toys.
