Combiner Wars - Unite Warriors Groove, Transformers Adventure And More In Latest Magazine Scans

Figure King Magazine scans are starting to pop up, and thanks to Taghobby we have our first look at the Transformers content. Alongside some upcoming recolors and first releases in the Transformers Adventure line including RID Drift, and Legends-Class Powerglide and Cosmos, we have some brand new reveals, including what seems to be our first Takara-original Combiner Wars limb with Deluxe Groove. Check out the scans and more details by clicking the title!

First up, Unite Warriors Groove. This seems to be a Takara-initiated figure, indicated by design departures from Combiner Wars so far. The major discrepancy is the presence of a clear plastic parts tree making a windscreen and potentially light piping eyes. Further is the apparent reuse of Alpha Bravo/Blades' combiner hand/foot, where so far each distinct mold "frame" has had a unique part. Moreover, the design style seems just a touch inconsistent, as would be the case if Hasbro's design team were not involved. This unfortunately may mean that like Arms Micron Breakdown, Groove would not fit in to the Combiner Wars retail structure to be able to see a release outside of Japan. However, only time will tell on that regard.

Additionally we have Legends Series Armada Megatron, teased just last night by Hisashi Yuki. Sadly the image available on this is not the best, but it does show some deco variance from the Hasbro release that may help satisfy a few of the complaints raised towards that variant. Of greater note on the same page is a recolor of Reveal The Shield Optimus in Scourge colors, much like the Transformers Subscription Service figure. The article calls it by the name Black Convoy, suggesting it is indeed the Car Robots character rather than perhaps Armada's Nemesis Prime (called Scourge in Japan). It seems these will be mail order items, with a three week preorder window beginning on June 20th. Stay tuned for more details on that!

Meanwhile in Transformers Adventure, Drift's Japanese version is shown with a more involved deco, and we get a look at versus set 3, Strongarm VS Phantomjaw, a police-deco version of Steeljaw. No, I don't get it either.

Please note the image of Defensor in the scans is the Hasbro version, naturally with the exception of the Groove prototype as a leg, and does not necessarily reflect the intended deco of Unite Warriors Defensor, which seems to be expected for release in November.
