Could this Be Our First Look at Transformers 3 Robot?

By MISP Steve on Wednesday, June 16, 2010

Images are flowing from the Transformers 3 set in Chicago this week. Get a look at what AintItCoolNews has posted from one of thier readers. They are walking the line on this one. Citing it could just a filming prop or some Russian Transformer? This would the USA versus Russia plot line that Bay recently hinted at in the news. It looks goofy as all heck, almost like Optimus Primal? You'll have to look at this one and decide for yourself.

An AICN reader called Bruiser sent in this snapshot - he/she says it's from the Chicago set of TRANSFORMERS 3.

If so, I'm guessing this is a practical stand-in for a bot that'll eventually be enlivened by CGI - but that's merely a guess.

Is this some kind of mechanical man built by humans to use as army against Decepticons? Or...we've recently learned that part of the picture's plot plot involves the U.S./Russian Space Race (details HERE). Perhaps this a Russian bot of some sort - it has that weird Soyuz coloring)?

All of this is merely speculation & I could be completely wrong. Just thinking out loud...
What is kind of interesting is you can make out a camera and crew that appear to be filming the robot on the back of the truck or something to that effect. This is just speculation here and on the Primal guess. Welcome to the circus that is Transformers 3. Check out the complete post over at aintitcool.com.

Even though we know now it isn't from MBFormers 3, the stand ins for TFs or anything that will be added in later is usually a long stick with a flag on it...just a point in the air that the actor can have something to talk to before it's added....just like in the scooby-doo movies. that add... read more

thank god that thing isn't from TF it looks like a terminator on Steroids who fell in a tub of blue paint and then rusted and torn apart in a chopshop then put back together again with someone reading the instructions wrong

I do think that killing Bay over the film franchise would be a little reactionary and overzealous; since when should making a bad movie incur the death penalty? (Though I'll admit it would probably resolve most of my issues with "direct-to-video sequels", Uwe Boll, and Paul W.S. Ander... read more

I'm from Chicago. I think it's Rattrap, since there are rat problems in the city. The allspark had to get in the sewer at some point.

i would assume that it's some sort of prop and/joke in the movie.

Dude, I loved those. My favorite was always the sea green digital clock that turned into the little base. It was sweet!

I've been thinking those Computer Warriors guys, not sure if that's the name of the line though. Like MASK but with computer themed toys and micro themed play sets (like the Pepsi can). The figures, this is sorta reminding me of those.

Olivus Prime of the TFW2005 Forums was able to sit down with Mark Ryan recently and talk Transformers movies. Ryan is the voice behind Revenge of the Fallen's Jetfire and Age of Extinction's Lockdown, and spoke of his inspiration for Jetfire, the amount of his own acting that was put into Lockdown... and perhaps most interestingly, a hint at the direction of Transformers 5 and the Transformers Cinematic Universe at large. Read on to see what he had to say!
Get your views in on the Transformers movies listed on Netflix as they will be removed from the listing at the end of September. Transformers: Age of Extinction and a number of other films such as the Hunger Games, World War Z that are part of the Epix distribution deal, have not been renewed at this time. We've been here before, where the deal was done only to be re-done at the zero-hour. Read on to see the quote from Ted Sarandos, Chief Content Officer at Netflix.
Empire Online has posted a ranking of the 100 greatest characters to feature in a movie, as selected by their readership. And Optimus Prime managed to make the list! Just barely avoiding falling in to dead last place, Optimus Prime ranks 98 out of 100. We're not entirely sure on what criteria people made their choices, but the bullet points on Empire's list might have you believe it's due to Optimus riding a dinosaur. We can but wonder if he wouldn't have ranked higher had he not murdered Frasier a short time later. Click through to get a link to the full list.
Following the long slow run up to Transformers 5 and the Cinematic Universe. We have some new insights from Daredevil writer Steven Dekinght. He's been part of the writers room sessions and gives us his take how things are unfolding. Paramount are "pulling all the stops" including a visit from Steven Spielberg himself. While no word on what the new Transformers 5 movie being worked on now by Akiva Goldsman and Jeff Pinkner, we do get a sense the new blood may actually produce a movie a story in it. Read on for more.
If you like busts and statues, then you're in business! Prime 1 Studios had pieces on display from Age of Extinction at Wonderfest this weekend. Busts of Optimus Prime and Galvatron, replicating the heads and upper bodies of the characters in painstaking detail, plus a full statue of Lockdown with one of his "hunting dogs". It's probably the best merchandise representation of Lockdown that will ever exist, and the price tag is sure to reflect that! Click through to check them out.
