Custom of the Week - Revenge of the Fallen Power-Up Prime by frenzy_rumble

By Garage Mod on Tuesday, July 14, 2009

Transformers Garage is on the look out for the best custom / kitbash to feature each week here and in the Transformers Garage Hall of Fame section. This week's featured custom is the Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen Power-Up Optimus Prime by frenzy_rumble.

It's a little more action-packed in this week's custom of the week, as we cannot do the Power-Up justice without showing you the modded versions of Optimus Prime and Jetfire.

Leader Optimus Prime

He tells us that he added some cool extras on the figure's alternate mode including rubber tires, pin striped flames, chromed rear view mirrors, poles up at front bumper, and chromed aluminum exhaust pipes cut with an angle.

He also added some articulated hands, which rotate at the wrists, and gave him some light up blue eyes, thanks to some clear blue tamiya paint on the green bulb.

Guns are from the Transformers: The Movie Optimus Prime (one's flipped) and added some stuff to them cosmetically and internally so they can clip onto his hands.

Keep your eyes peeled for another gallery from "frenzy_rumble," which will feature removable swords.

Leader Jetfire

Jetfire itself has not been modded that help with the overall figure: added very bright LEDs to his turbines; made the arm kibble on his forearms removable (because it's not there in the movie); painted his alt mode flat black, masked off the decals/graphics, then dusted it with a charcoal grey; and modded his hands so the fingers all articulate and move independently.

Power-Up Optimus Prime

Finally, the part you've been waiting for. To help with the actual combination of the figures, "frenzy_rumble" made some modifications. By altering where Jetfire's nose sits on the shoulders and "I think the way they follow the shoulders is a lot more accurate."

He also added some magnetically attached feet on his feets and added some wings. "There are 2 small wings which flair out from behind his wheels on his lower legs, they also clip around and onto the sides... and 2 small wings from the sides of his chest."

i also think that hasbro will jack up the price if they increase the paint detail to all the toys they make. i think instead of getting hired by hasbro, FR should start his own custom toy store, his works were really amazing

I've seen this one from F/R and its amazing. His customs almost discourage me from doing my own there so damn good. I am working on something special right now though...

SCREW THAT!!! Have you heard any of the horror stories about their Masters of the Universe line? Entire stocks of figures selling out in less than an hour; website problems that cause orders to go unregistered; scalpers allowed to purchase any number of figures they want!

I agree with you. Probably for different reasons though. All the negative things I have heard about FR have left a bad taste in my mouth. Sure the detail looks good, could Hasbro do it? Yes. Should they? Only if you want to pay $100+ for a deluxe figure. The time and money it would take Has... read more

I have to side with Hasbro on this matter. Does this custom Power-Up Prime look incredibly awesome? Yes. Is it better than what I can find on the shelves? Yes. Would I pay upwards of $200 for it? Hell no. People seem to forget these toys are aimed at kids first and foremost. As I'v... read more

Am I the only one that disagrees that Hasbro should hire this guy? If they do, prices for Transformers will boost high, I mean higher than Masterpiece prices. I understand there are a lot of fans that love detai. For someone like me, I just wanna spend a couple bucks for a decent looking transformer... read more

Once again we're on the verge of a growing number of production side tidbits for a Transformers movie. Website My Entertainment World has updated with a very brief listing for Transformers 5, revealing when filming for the next movie is due to begin. With the publicity around the Writers' Room project recently we can at least hope that there will be a completed script by the time they fire up the cameras, though absence of such certainly hasn't stopped production in the past... The Hollywood Reporter has reported that a live-action Transformers event called Transformers Live will open in China in 2017. The event is said to "be a cross between an action-adventure spectacle, a theme park attraction and a theatrical show," and is expected to feature custom robotics among other features. Just as Michael Bay always comes back to do the next Transformers movie, it seems now a reliable trend that Michael Bay will choose Chicago as a shooting location. Maybe he just enjoys Portillo's, and I couldn't blame him for that, but whatever the cause it sounds like Chicago will see more robot action. In an interview with WGN Radio's Dean Richards focused on Bay's movie 13 Hours, the subject of Transformers and a return to Chicago come up briefly. We have a summary of the relevant portion of the interview. Click through to take a look, and to get a link back to the original if you want to hear more about 13 Hours.
Thanks to EDFHOBBIES who offers a first look at the 2016 Chevy Camaro 6th generation car release. While this one has been customized somewhat, it cannot be denied that Chevy is continuing to how love for Transformers Bumblebee namesake. According to the post, the black stripes and Autobot symbols ,and other custom touches were added after delivery. So we don't know if this is an official Transformers model, but it is still a Bumblebee to the owner and many fans.
