Custom of the Week - Revenge of the Fallen Power-Up Prime by frenzy_rumble
Garage Mod - Tuesday, July 14, 2009

Transformers Garage is on the look out for the best custom / kitbash to feature each week here and in the Transformers Garage Hall of Fame section. This week's featured custom is the Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen Power-Up Optimus Prime by frenzy_rumble.

It's a little more action-packed in this week's custom of the week, as we cannot do the Power-Up justice without showing you the modded versions of Optimus Prime and Jetfire.

Leader Optimus Prime

He tells us that he added some cool extras on the figure's alternate mode including rubber tires, pin striped flames, chromed rear view mirrors, poles up at front bumper, and chromed aluminum exhaust pipes cut with an angle.

He also added some articulated hands, which rotate at the wrists, and gave him some light up blue eyes, thanks to some clear blue tamiya paint on the green bulb.

Guns are from the Transformers: The Movie Optimus Prime (one's flipped) and added some stuff to them cosmetically and internally so they can clip onto his hands.

Keep your eyes peeled for another gallery from "frenzy_rumble," which will feature removable swords.

Leader Jetfire

Jetfire itself has not been modded that help with the overall figure: added very bright LEDs to his turbines; made the arm kibble on his forearms removable (because it's not there in the movie); painted his alt mode flat black, masked off the decals/graphics, then dusted it with a charcoal grey; and modded his hands so the fingers all articulate and move independently.

Power-Up Optimus Prime

Finally, the part you've been waiting for. To help with the actual combination of the figures, "frenzy_rumble" made some modifications. By altering where Jetfire's nose sits on the shoulders and "I think the way they follow the shoulders is a lot more accurate."

He also added some magnetically attached feet on his feets and added some wings. "There are 2 small wings which flair out from behind his wheels on his lower legs, they also clip around and onto the sides... and 2 small wings from the sides of his chest."

i also think that hasbro will jack up the price if they increase the paint detail to all the toys they make. i think instead of getting hired by hasbro, FR should start his own custom toy store, his works were really amazing

I've seen this one from F/R and its amazing. His customs almost discourage me from doing my own there so damn good. I am working on something special right now though...

SCREW THAT!!! Have you heard any of the horror stories about their Masters of the Universe line? Entire stocks of figures selling out in less than an hour; website problems that cause orders to go unregistered; scalpers allowed to purchase any number of figures they want!

I agree with you. Probably for different reasons though. All the negative things I have heard about FR have left a bad taste in my mouth. Sure the detail looks good, could Hasbro do it? Yes. Should they? Only if you want to pay $100+ for a deluxe figure. The time and money it would take Has... read more

I have to side with Hasbro on this matter. Does this custom Power-Up Prime look incredibly awesome? Yes. Is it better than what I can find on the shelves? Yes. Would I pay upwards of $200 for it? Hell no. People seem to forget these toys are aimed at kids first and foremost. As I'v... read more

Am I the only one that disagrees that Hasbro should hire this guy? If they do, prices for Transformers will boost high, I mean higher than Masterpiece prices. I understand there are a lot of fans that love detai. For someone like me, I just wanna spend a couple bucks for a decent looking transformer... read more

More Transformers Movies News
From the same round of leaks as the big Power of the Primes news comes a series of other miscellaneous leaks! First up seems to be a series of movie reissue toys which, given by the dates involved, seems to have been cancelled with the first wave to have occurred in April of this year. We also have some other movie-related figures on display as well as some budget-minded figures such as Cyber Battalion Sideswipe and Shockwave! Keep reading to see it all!
Deadline reports that actress Pamela Adlon - recent Emmy winner for her show Better Things, and voice of Bobby Hill on King Of The Hill among many others- is in talks to join the cast of Transformers Universe: Bumblebee. Adlon is presumed to be up for the role of the mother of the Hailee Steinfeld character, and hopefully we'll learn more about the film soon. Keep reading for an excerpt from the announcement.
Typically Transformers movies have had budgets around the 200 million dollar level, which includes The Last Knight with an estimated budget of $217 million - which according to Box Office Mojo, it still has not made back in its domestic ticket sales* as of July 20th. With this in mind, it's perhaps little surprise that the next movie up, the prequel focused on Bumblebee is being run much more lean. Screenrant has reported on the situation and given us a surprisingly low budget projection for the movie. Keep reading to find out what the film will be working with!

With production having just begun on next year's Bumblebee-focused movie, one would hope that assembling a cast has been on someone's mind. The Hollywood Reporter brings word of a number of young actors currently in talks for parts in the film, following behind leads Hailee Steinfeld and Jorge Lendeborg, Jr. No one involved has given any specifics yet towards the story, only sticking to the rundown of Lorenzo di Bonaventura that it'll be smaller, less robots, and more character development focused. Keep reading to find out more about the newest round of casting!
It is that time of year again when the annual Transformers Hall of Fame nominees are chosen by you to the Transformers fans. This year we have 12 brand new choices lined from all the movies in for the Favorite Robot Movie Character Poll. That's where you come in. We need your help in narrowing this down to the top three characters. Those will be sent onto Hasbro who will count the grand total of votes from many sites with the winner announced at HasCon 2017. Vote now through Saturday at midnight on the Poll after the jump.
