Custom of the Week - Revenge of the Fallen Shockwave by Jin Saotome

By Garage Mod on Tuesday, June 30, 2009

Transformers Garage is on the look out for the best custom / kitbash to feature each week here and in the Transformers Garage Hall of Fame section.

This week's featured custom in our "holy freakin' cow" series is Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen Shockwave by Jin Saotome.

"What's Transformers without Shockwave I ask you? He's like the jelly to a PB&J, the bottle cap to a beer, you know what I'm saying right?"

We do indeed, Mr. Saotome.

Revenge of the Fallen Shockwave by Jin Saotome

"Shockwave was created using a Swindle head, Soundwave upper body, and Protoform Starscream lower body. Soundwave's legs became the arms and I removed the fish-fin panels, also moving the main satellite spear. His hand and gun were various fodder parts and I added wires and hoses inside of his arms."

"Shockwave's paint job took me hours of non-stop shading, weathering, use of every metallic color I had, and mixing together every technique I had to create his look. When it came to the purple I used it sparingly and didn't focus on the wing panels, darkening them to act like a cape behind him. Shockwave transforms into a mini Vector Prime type vehicle similar to Shoundwave's alt mode."

See the full custom gallery in the customs and kitbashes section in our forums.

This is a public service announcement! After much confusion on the web, I thought I would go ahead and review the new Transformers Age of Extinction Flip & Change figure - as this is ***NOT*** The Voyager Generations Advanced Movie figure. This is for kids! So, sit back, pop some corn, and check this out... for the little ones....
Thanks again to YouTuber Transformers And Power Rangers Toy Reviews who have posted a video review of the Transformers 4 Age of Extinction Grimlock Voyager Class action figure. The reviewer says: "Transformers 4 Age of Extinction Voyager Grimlock has his flaws, but he really is an excellent figure with an obscene amount of character and gravitas. I haven't seen figures with posture like this since the glory days of Transformers Animated. Watch the video review of this"
Thanks to youtuber Optibotimus who has posted a video review for Dinobot Slug Transformers Age of Extinction deluxe class figure. Get the scoop on this new toy that won't be in stores till May 17th. See the figure in his robot mode and transformed to beast mode with all the details in between by watching the Dinobot Slug video review below.
Thanks again to YouTuber Transformers And Power Rangers Toy Reviews who have posted a video review of the Transformers 4 Age of Extinction Smash and Change Optimus Prime action figure. The reviewer says: "Transformers 4 Age of Extinction Smash and Change Optimus Prime isn't a good toy, but his saving grace is he actually works, unlike the Flip and Change Grimlock figure. I do not recommend this guy, but I could see his clicky-pen transformation being interesting if a future figure did more with it." Watch the review to see why.
YouTuber Transformers And Power Rangers Toy Reviews have posted a video review of the Transformers 4 Age of Extinction Grimlock action figure. We first saw this guy demonstrated at Toy Fair earlier this year. Here we get to see the full review of this fast-changing toy. The reviewer says: "Transformers 4 Age of Extinction Flip and Change Grimlock is not a good figure. The 1 step Grimlock figure does more with less, and costs less. I recommend it much more than this toy, which barely works." Watch the full video to see why.
