Custom of the Week - Revenge of the Fallen Soundwave by Jin Saotome
Garage Mod - Wednesday, August 19, 2009

Transformers Garage is on the look out for the best custom / kitbash to feature each week here and in the Transformers Garage Hall of Fame section. This week's featured custom is Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen Soundwave complete with tentacles and satellite, by Jin Saotome.

After watching the film, we here at the TFormers office wondered if Soundwave would be repainted or re-issued complete with the satellite that he took over during the film, and it seems like Jin beat them to the punch.

"With all the repaints of Soundwave out there I decided to try something new, adding the poor little satellite he takes over," he tells us.

The custom is complete with tentatcles, which are from "Spawn Interlink parts with Gaussboy's magnets on the ends that attach to magnets on the satellite...All you have to do is get him near it and he grapples it up."

The satellite itself came from some sort of space station kit.

The figure didn't just get new accessories as Mr. Saotome also modded the figure including a major modification to the hips so he can stand up tall. "Add some Tamiya Silver Leaf paint job along with some space-debris-wear and he's ready to get his groove on in outer space!"

See the full custom gallery in the customs and kitbashes section in our forums.

Want to see your Transformers custom featured on TFormers Custom of the Week? Just post your custom gallery to Transformers Garage. If we think yours is the best one of the week, we will feature it here and add your name and custom to the Hall of Fame.

I hope to get a COTW award if I ever finish my MM Alternator Custom...... Nice work, I think that JS and F_R have set the standard for Customization, but there are a lot of Customizers that have inspired them. I would classify them as Veterans of Customizing. There should be categories.... Expert,... read more

I like the satellite but the color is meh, for one his usual customs. Hes good dont get me wrong but this could have been better and imo, isnt worthy of custom of the week. JMO though

Nice work, but I still think the version done by TonyzCustomz was better. Now that, IMHO, should have been a custom of the week. It's hidden on page 4 or 5 of the customs section.

On the flipside, is there any work by others that matches their scale? Is it fair to hold FR and JS to a higher scale just because they are perceived to have a higher quality of work? If anything, I think their work would inspire other customizers to ratchet their skills up a notch. Exempting the... read more

We reported on this back in 2014, but it appears with the roll out of Transformers 5 on the way. Paramount is just now in court fighting a $27 Million lawsuit. The suit claims that the Chinese company Wulong Karst Tourism, paid $750,000 to be placed in the film, but they never appeared in the movie that was shown in Cinemas. Could this be a setback for the Transformers 5 movie's product and licensing opportunities?
