With all the back and forth about crossovers in the news, especially with the Transformers x G.I. Joe movie being bandied around recently. The Daily Prime takes a look at the dark Primes in Dreamwave's original comic book series Transformers G.I Joe series from 2003.
Written by John Ney Rieber with art by Jae Lee, the six-issue series tells a story of the Transformers and Joe's together in the dark dystopian setting of a global war. Featuring edgy artwork like we have not seen since. There are some fantastic Optimus Prime designs shown in the many gate-fold cover variants made for the Issue #1 series debut in August 2003. The covers shown below were created by the following:
◾ Wrap-around Cover - Pat Lee (pencils), Rob Armstrong (inks), Ramil Sunga (colors)
◾ Holofoil Cover - Dan Norton, Don Figueroa (pencils), Erik Sander, Elaine To (inks), Alan Wang (colors)
◾ Triple Gatefold Cover - Jae Lee (art), June Chung (colors)
