Okay, so I really need to clarify what a lot of people in the fandom are thinking: our Britain friends will not be getting Transformers: Animated on their television screens. This is simply untrue.
First off, let's talk about the originating story.
Transformers @ the Moon reported this past Friday, "[w]e have just had it confirmed by the UK Kids Entertainment Press Officer at Turner Broadcastings that the 2008 Transformers show Transformers Animated will not be airing on Cartoon Network here within the UK."
The problem is, people either just skipped past the "Cartoon Network within the UK" part, or assumed that because Cartoon Network is handling the distribution duties of the show in the States, they would be handling it in the UK as well. (The latter is a pretty good assumption.)
While the UK Kids Entertainment is "not aware of whom, if anyone, currently holds the right to air the series within the UK" as TF @ the Moon reports, there is, without a doubt, going to be an air date for Transformers: Animated in the UK.
Back in August, we reported that the UK-based media company Entertainment Rights has
secured the rights for international distribution of Transformers: Animated for areas outside of North America and other unspecified areas.
Entertainment Rights was also the company responsible for
distributing Transformers: Cybertron outside of the United States.
When will the show air? Well, I don't know. All we know is the loose 2008 date that was revealed to us on the cover of the
UK magazine Broadcast back in April. (Which as of this writing I just noticed has the Entertainment Rights logos on the bottom left and right-hand sides of the cover.)
So, while the UK does not have a concrete date
like the U.S. does, you guys will be getting your fix of the show.
