Preceding the full reveal event that'll be happening during New York Comic Con later this week, IGN has been able to deliver the first look at some of the toys coming next year as part of War For Cybertron's second chapter: Earthrise.
Previewed today are the Leader class Optimus Prime, which by all current signs seems to be a fully new mold, and does come with a classic-style trailer. Plus as a bonus, the robot's chest opens to reveal the Matrix within.
Along with that we have our first look at deluxe Ironworks, who represents the new spin on the Weaponizer concept: a robot that becomes a Micromaster battlestation, and disassembles to make a number of individual modules that presumably can be combined together in all sorts of ways to make inventive environments for Micromasters.
Speaking of Micromasters, the Micromaster Hot Rod Patrol is seen, featuring fan-favorite Big Daddy (who by the filenames may have been renamed "Daddy-O") and Trip Up. The two are also shown interacting with the default base mode of Ironworks as a demonstration of how that functionality is intended to work.
Finally we have a look at Voyager Grapple. Immediately notable is that Grapple can do a trick like Impactor by flipping in the hands to reveal 5mm ports on the opposite end so tools and weapons can be plugged in. In this case, a grabber claw is shown used. This of course would have many other potential uses given the wide range of 5mm-based accessories available.
We're hoping to see all of these and more in person this Thursday. Be sure to stay with TFormers for all the latest news and images from NYCC!
I see that the ramps on Ironworks and Optimus's trailer use the same connectors as Omega Supreme! You know what that means... ?
