Eyewitness Account of Bumblebee Crash & Video; Plus AF Memorial Footage
The talk of the day has been the crash between the Chevrolet Camaro and a Washington DC Metropolitan Police Department SUV, which an officer was driving to respond to a call.
Todd Claxton dropped us a line to let us know what he saw when he and his children walked out of the National Museum of the American Indian:
I had taken my kids to the American Indian Museum and walked out to see them shooting. I was right there when the accident [happened].
The one thing they are not explaining is that this was the second take. The first take, the [Stingray] corvette was behind Bumblebee and [lost] control and spun around nearly colliding with a trailer.
So the next time they put it behind [Ironhide] so it would not have to make a sharp turn. In between the 1st and second shoots, and ambulance also went through scene.
It didn't seem like he knew what was going on.
He got half way through then kind of slowed down by Optimus Prime looked at it confused then kept going. [Believe] me it was a big mess!
This follows reports that came out earlier today after the crash, which cited that the Metro PD officer responding to the call was using a different radio frequency than the Metro PD whom were in charge of controlling perimeter security.
The video below was first available on Fox5's website.
In other news, Michael Bay and crew were on hand at the Air Force Memorial, where they spent approximately five hours shooting.
We were on the scene as Mr. Bay spent most of his time shooting the DC skyline from the Arlington side.
The black government Chevrolet Suburbans, rumored to be named "Dreads" were also sighted. Thanks to Hiro, who was nice enough to send some really close-up shots of vehicles to us.
According to WUSA9, a rusted semi-truck of some kind was also sighted pulling out of the parking lot at the Air Force Memorial, but video evidence is currently unavailable.
