Correct me if I'm wrong, but from what I was told, the iGear seekers were retooled KOs of the official toys. Not much R&D needed for that.

Not true, the iGear Seekers were right around $100 a piece, which is approximately the same as it would be for a Takara release, minus the Takara add-on's

I believe you're right. I've never seen another third party toy costing as much as its official counterparts. $150 for this would definitely be worth it.

Exactly. this is, to my knowledge, the first time a 3rd party TF costs almost the exact same as its official counterparts. that alone is reason enough for me to buy it plus i love shocky lol

Let's be honest here. $150 is not bad considering MP Optimus Prime is now going for $130 on the TRU website. And to get Takara MP versions, you're paying big money as well.

Via Weibo, Uniquetoys has shared some new pictures of Ragnaros, the Masterpiece-size Combaticon project they're working on. Using color samples of the Swindle and Brawl analogues and grey prototypes for the other three, we get some looks at the assembled combined form of Ragnaros itself, and a team shot of the five robots together. Some aspects like the combiner chestplate look to be adopting cartoon traits, perhaps as a way to more fully embrace the current style of real Masterpieces which are embracing cartoon elements in their designs. You can find the whole set in the gallery below!
FansToys has shared new photos showing off a full color testshot of Koot, the unofficial Kup joining their lineup of Masterpiece-scale figures. While it is cautioned that details could still change before the final version of the figure, this seems to be giving a positive impression for the project, offering such things as opaque or transparent windshield options, an option face with a cigar, and a fairly good representation of the cartoon model in the face sculpting - though the cigar was always an IDW-specific trait. We've mirrored the photos, and you can find them all below.
DX9 Toys shared a gallery for a prototype of Gabriel, their answer to an unofficial Masterpiece-scaled Omega Supreme. The initial release that preceded this gave a description of the height, but these photos actually show the robot standing among official Masterpieces, including MP-10 Optimus, giving a very clear sense of just how big this figure is. We also get an all-important first look at its articulation and ability to pose, plus some extra details of the alternate mode elements. All of that is mirrored below, click through and see it now!
This one stayed under the radar for a little bit, but it seems DX9 is throwing down in the giant unofficial Omega Supreme game too. D12 Gabriel will stand 56cm tall at the head - just about 22 inches - and features transformation in to the full rocket base. The initial shipment will come with a bonus option face part to represent "shedding tears". It also looks like the tank will be able to carry a Dianaut from the Diaclone Reboot line in the transformed robot head, which will have cockpit details. And it's all for preorder as one unit for just $279.99! Check out the promo images below.
Teased recently, Core Magnus has now been fully unveiled by Perfect Effect on their Facebook page. A recolor of their Jinrai Prime cab robot figure for Super Ginrai or Powermaster Optimus, this is the Ultra Magnus themed release to provide a transforming white truck cab robot. The only unique parts included are a replacement chest plate, and a neck joint adapter, presumably to be used with the armored Ultra Magnus head, but that function is not clear. Core Magnus is set for release in August. Click through to see the photos, mirrored below.
