First Looks at Transformers: The War for Cybertron Optimus Prime and Megatron

Since Mystery of Convoy failed to grace the U.S. market with it's uber difficult NES lameness, Transformer fans have languished with out the skidplate kicking, Generation One depicting, Sentient Being Freeing, Transformer Video Game they craved. Even the decidedly lame Transformers Tatakai was denied to the North American fans.

But now, Activision, the makers of Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, arguably the best video game incarnation of the franchise to date are poised to bring us Transformers: The War for Cybertron.

Transfans, Rejoice! The Transformers Gaming Holy Grail may at last be upon us!

A recent article in Game Informer brings us gospel and fantastic images of a G1-esque game possibly set on ancient Cybertron during the hey day of it's civil war. A third person shooter featuring many favorite classic cast members, Optimus Prime, Megatron, Ironhide, and Soundwave are pictured here, sporting innovative, presumably, pre-earth modes.

High Moon Studios, the studio behind Darkwatch and Robert Ludlum's The Borne Conspiracy is producing the game.

Most likely we are going to see Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC versions of the Transformers: The War for Cybertron and with a little luck an even better online version that Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen.
