Hot damm, that looks awesome!
It is not "quite" the G1 packaging as I remember it but it is dang close. And Primus looks great.
I am glad I pre-ordered mine!

Meh, seems pointless to me. Since he looks nothing like the G1 Cybertron he just doesn't look right in G1-styled packaging. The packaging sure as heck isn't enough to make me want to import him, especially when Hasbro continues to claim that their version will be better.

Fail to see how Hasbro's version will be better.
Could be but I already got this version because it is simpler for me to import this one than buying the US version off eBay.

Love the box art and the third mode makes this even more of a MUST GET! Well done Takara!

They said at Botcon '05 that there would be a special feature in the US version that wouldn't be in the Takara version. Something special enough that people that imported would still want to buy the US version too. At UK Toy Fair Hasbro UK mentioned something about an additional key spot in the chest, but they were pretty vague about it and Hasbro UK isn't exactly known for getting information right from Hasbro US. We'll probably hear more in a couple weeks at New York Toy Fair.

But this could mean almost anything.
Hasbro is not known for retooling Japanese toys outside of safety regulations and it could be that this modification is minor.
I doubt they could build in something big but perhaps Hasbro will surprise us.

Unless Hasbro plans on building a version of Primus that's of a larger scale than the Takara version, I don't beleive any "additional feature" would be worth buying both versions. Outside of it being played with by children, he'll just end up standing on a shelf... making the gimmick especially moot..
Not that I'm importing this one, though I do like the box; it will just end up being stored out of site... so at this point, I'd rather save the extra money and buy the Hasbro version.

Well its not a special feature the American version will have. It was said to come with something extra, that the Japanese version wouldn't have. Meaning some in package premium that the GF version wouldn't have. Kinda like how the GF Metrotitan came with a mini prime figure.

There was talk that it would come with the energy weapon (the massive TF starship used and merged from the 3 or 4 starships to travel to Gigalonia and back) that Primus used to close the Black Hole and save the Universe.

I honestly don't know which to get. If they're both the same but the US version gets something extra. I'd probably go with US version. The starship sounds like a nice extra to get, but I have a feeling it'll be a mini Optimus Prime. But, in the back of my mind, I'm thinking a new mini-con.

Considering that Primus looks cool, I could never get into owning something so massive.
Yet...The gimmick or extra attraction that comes with the Hasbro version of Primus...I would take a guess would probably be a dead-end repaint of Mini-con from Unicron Armada. Which probably fits into Primus or something or other...
Another possibility could be the key to Vector Sigma or perhaps a bigger Matrix?
Another interesting thing is, will there be a 3rd alt mode for Hasbro's Primus?
G1 box design for Takara seems wicked nice...too bad they never thought to make a G1 version of him :shrugs:
