Yeah, the chip square is necessary for transformation. It isn't necessary to have it full of force chips though.

This is the Omega Lock that is on the TV show. The keys that go in it are: Scourge (Jungle), Evac (Earth), Override (Speed), and Metroplex (Giant).

Of course, just like all the bots, any key will do. ;)
I don't much care for the key gimmick, but they could've have at least made the Convoys' keys unique to each Convoy, then made the Chip Square so only the Convoys' Planet Force could be used with it.

They could have but it wouldn't have been wise. Restricting playability isn't going to sell more toys.

I hope it is included with the figure because he is the only Galaxy Force figure I am getting.
