More Generation 1 Japan News
Speculation had been that the natural foil to Mega Drive Megatron would be Super FamiConvoy, but sadly it is not to be. TakaraTomy has elected to identify the G1 Autobot leader as Optimus Prime, and that share some initials with Original Playstation. The first render indeed shows Optimus Prime with a PS1 body. In a way it makes sense, as the structure of the PS1 (rectangle with a circle in the middle) is pretty similar to the Mega Drive. Keep reading for the first photo!
TakaraTomy is now offering a series of limited, signed-and-numbered wall prints of classic G1 boxart as the Transformers Master Art Collection. Each piece, priced between 35-45,000 Yen (approximately $350-450) will be signed by original painter Shin Ueda, and includes Optimus Prime's Japanese boxart (which is similar to but not precisely matching the US version) as well as a number of back-of-package group paintings. The massive, nontransforming Gigantic Action Megazarak (AKA Scorponok) has been featured on Dengeki Hobby Online, complete with full specifications, price, and release date. Keep reading for details and an image!
eHobby has updated their Transformers Cloud story page- again, with a long text piece we couldn't even hope to get an idea of with mechanical translation. But, there's a neat new picture of Rodimus taking a major swing with his sword at someone. We've also got a variety of Fall of Cybertron characters like Bruticus in the background, and Shockwave is using his new Whirl body in a completely undocumented and unintended walker-tank mode. Keep reading for a link and a photo!
The Sega Store is, naturally, carrying TakaraTomy's Mega Drive Megatron - and if you order your Genesis-shaped tyrant from them, you get a limited-edition bonus T-Shirt! Sega Store is asking 10,800 Yen (about $108) for the figure, and I'm reasonably certain they'll only ship within Japan. Click through to see the shirt, and then consult your favorite middleman!
