Transformers GI Joe Crossover Comic Book Five Page Preview Images

By BaCon on Wednesday, February 12, 2014

Just in from the Free Comic Book Day web site, we have a five page preview of IDW Publishing Transformers with G.I. Joe Crossover comic book series. They have released a preview of the cover and story pages about the G1 series era Transformers meeting up with GI Joe in a classic way. Tom Scioli has been brought on to co-write and draw the comic series that is reported to tell the story of the Joe team against the entire planet of Cybertron. Read the Transformers GI Joe Crossover below.
Two of the most popular comic book franchises of all-time, TRANSFORMERS and G.I. JOE, will be going head-to-head in a brand-new ongoing series debuting next summer! Written and drawn by comic luminary Tom Scioli (Godland, American Barbarian) with co-writer and TRANSFORMERS veteran John Barber (TRANSFORMERS: ROBOTS IN DISGUISE, FALL OF CYBERTRON), these classic characters will explode off the page like never before!

Transformers News: Re: IDW Announces New Transformers/G.I. Joe Crossover Written and Drawn by Tom Scioli

Based on the iconic Hasbro brands, this stand-alone seriesis set to explore the intriguing encounter between these starkly different teams. Cosmic in scale, the series will utilize Scioli’s unique artwork to traverse the perils of space and pit the G.I. JOE team against the ominous threats of CYBERTRON. Featuring the characters synonymous with both TRANSFORMERS and G.I. JOE this will be a team-up for the ages!

“This is a dream project for me,” says Barber, “and I’m blown away by the imagination and the unique take that Tom Scioli is bringing to this project. It harkens back to classic comic traditions—and to the origins of the TRANSFORMERS and G.I. JOE characters—but feels constantly, irrepressibly new!”

“This feels like the comic I was born to make,” says Scioli. “We’re asking big questions. Is war an inevitable condition of life? What is free will? What is the future of man and machine as the line between them becomes increasingly blurred? The G.I. JOE team is trained to deal with dangerous situations and this is the ultimate test of their training. The TRANSFORMERS characters push the boundaries of what shapes life can take in this infinite universe of ours. Perhaps it will be a machine that teaches us what it is to be human.”

Both brands have found immense success over the decades with action figures, feature films, cartoons, comics and more; and have each found unique and avid fanbases. With influential and iconic characters, the TRANSFORMERS and G.I. JOE brands are globally renowned as multi-media powerhouses.

“We’ve been waiting for the right opportunity for this event, and the anniversary of both TRANSFORMERS and G.I.JOE in 2014 is definitely the perfect time," said Michael Kelly, Hasbro's Director of Global Publishing. "We are very excited to be working with IDW on this project, and I for one can’t wait to read the next chapter of this adventure.”

The event of the year begins next summer only at IDW!

Activision Publishing, Inc. today released TRANSFORMERS: Devastation. This new third-person action-brawler rolls into battle with Hasbro’s classic Generations designs. The game’s gripping single-player campaign features 50 highly challenging bonus missions with any of five playable heroes! OPTIMUS PRIME, BUMBLEBEE, SIDESWIPE, WHEELJACK and GRIMLOCK. Each of these characters can be evolved with new abilities, unique talents and more than 150 upgradeable weapons.
Machinima has posted a pair of videos today for Transformers Devastation, just hours away from retail availability. Both videos focus on Optimus Prime, and the voice clips do a good job showing the Peter Cullen still has the more fun, energetic cartoon Optimus Prime inside him. One video highlights battle between Optimus and Megatron, while the second is a more general overview of Optimus through the game. We have both of them embedded, plus plenty of screencaps, so click through to check it out!
With little time remaining before the game is released across the various platforms, the Transformers Game Facebook is cranking out the promo materials. Most recently we've gotten some concept art for the Decepticon generic ground troops, collectively the Battlechargers - one type based on the Generations Wheeljack body (like the Collectors Club exclusives) and another being a simplified version of Blitzwing. We also have nice art of Shockwave in robot and gun modes. Click through and check it all out!
Yesterday's spotlight on Grimlock wasn't the end of coverage for the Dinobot commander, today the Transformers Game Facebook page has their own regular gameplay demo video posted, showing some stages and attacks not present in the "cinematic trailer" yesterday. We have screenshots and an embed for that, plus a collection of several lineart pieces for Soundwave, the cassettes, and Megatron's tank mode. Keep reading to see it all!
If you're of the age that you remember buying or at least receiving Transformers when G1 was fresh on the shelves, you probably remember the littler rubbery Decoys coming with. Takara apparently does, as they're reviving the concept, though these won't be packaged with regular toys. The Transformers Figure Collection will be released in capsule machines in Japan starting in January, reportedly for under 100 Yen. The lineup currently consists of just 8 Autobot characters, but maybe more will follow down the line. Click though to take a look!
