Gobots Wave 3 Super Gallery

By jack on Thursday, August 28, 2003 @ 04:21:36 PM

The third wave of GoBots are now in the stores. There are some familiar faces in cool new colors as well as a batch of fresh new vehicles in this round up including a 4x4 truck, motorcycle and dump truck. The black Reptron is pretty darn cool too.

These toys are really cute but no way will I buy or even touch or play with Gobots! Anyone who collects these toys and is 16 and up is weird. Just look at them. They're for babies.

Are there any bad guys in this Gobots line cause as far as I see it, everyone's a good guy.

Only bad guy I know of in this line is Mototron.

It probably doesn't take much imagination to use Reptron, especially the new black and red one, as a bad guy, and although I wanted to think of Biker-Bot (Buzzer-Bot 2?) as a villian (remember Cy-Kill? Obviously we aren't going to have a preschool toy with "kill" in his name, but you know), he just seems too darn happy. According to a video I understand is packed in with some of the newer GoBots, Mototron and Silver-Bot (nee Silverbolt) are "bad guys," but more misguided troublemakers than true evildoers...

They look cute, but i can't say i'll be buying them coz as someone said, they look too babyish for me. But biker-bot does look cool :).

Think i'll stick to Myclones and World's smallest

My nephew collects this line, mostly because they are designed for his age group and his uncle is keen on starting him on the road to Transformerfandom early... hehehe...

Seriously though, I love this line. I think they are among the best Transformer-related products on the market in the last few years. Seriously! Yes, they have simple transformations but they don't fall apart at the drop of a hat, they don't fall into the traditional "I have to have a big gun" mindset, and they are very cute.

And let me assure my fellow fans that if you are interested in introducing your hobby to women, you can do little better than showing them these cute and easily transformable toys. All my female friends love the bright colours and cool forms!

That said I do have a few gripes with the line:

* Hauler-bot towers over the rest. No different than Gen 1 products, when you really think about it, or even some of the more recent Armada.

* The names are terrible. Even worse, they just recycle the same names over and over again (there are at least four Speed-Bots). I know, from watching the cartoon with my nephew, that this is because the Go-Bots can assume different forms depending on the mission. Fortunately, Takara has come to the rescue with their great name listings, which makes every character unique and are cute to boot (lots of cutes in this line...)

* While I don't mind the marketing push for this line, I wish Hasbro had not changed their approach mid-stride. I hate a lack of consistency! While I would have preferred the baby Autobot symbols on all the toys consistently, I'd prefer another logo across them as long as it was consistent. For a figure like Mototron, who has yet to be released with the "G" logo, he looks out of place to me as a result. And while I like Takara's names, import costs (if I could even find the figures!) would be prohibitively costly simply for the sake of a logo that I could change myself.

I am s
