We have our submitted questions back from Hasbro for episode 6 of our Q&A session! We got some great answers thanks to your great questions!
Q: Over the past 25 years the Transformers' list of characters and figures has evolved exponentially, with so many characters to chose from how does Hasbro chose which ones will be made into actual figures and what is the process Hasbro goes through with the current figures that are out to decide which ones will get repaint and which ones will not?
Hasbro: A great question! With thousands of great characters to choose from
every year, we review which figures we have released in previous years
along with those characters that we feel are the next deserving characters
to be reimagined. We discuss each of these options as a team until we
reach a consensus on how we would like to proceed.
Part of this process also includes discussing what characters can then be
released using previous or some of the newmolds as repaints. Ultimately,
our guide in this decision making process is to make sure that we are
consistent and true to a character's essence and not force fitting it into
an inappropriate mold.
When creating the Star Wars / Transformers Crossovers line, why were the figures made out of the Star Wars characters, and not Cybertronian Robots with character pilots?
The purpose of the Crossovers line is to transfer the Transformers play
pattern into the Star Wars universe by leveraging the iconic Star Wars
characters, thus the reason why these figures convert into some of the
classic Star Wars characters. Additionally, these are both two separate
properties, each with their own history and lore that we do not want to
mix together.
The Universe line is on hiatus for now, but Hasbro has said it wants to continue "reimagining our heritage figures." Could you describe how you determine which "heritage figures" to revisit? Who typically originates the ideas, and what process do they go through before winding up on shelves?
Every year we review which figures have been released in previous years
along with those characters that we feel are the next characters that
deserve to be reimagined. We try to go along the order of figures that
have played important roles not only in the animation, but all forms of
our entertainment (comic books, novels, etc.) The great part about our
team is that not one specific person is responsible for coming up with
ideas. We really try to work through this as a team, discussing the
pluses and minuses for each of these options as a team until we reach an
overall consensus the team feels comfortable with developing.
Thanks to Hasbro for these great answers!

While I don't collect the Star War Transformers, I do wonder why Hasbro is so narrow-minded when it comes to what characters they use.

After the other answers we've seen, I'm beginning to think that Hasbro is like a woman. Sometimes, these kinds of questions are not okay, but the next day, they'll gladly answer them. It's hard to judge when they actually do this back and forth kind of thing. I suppose from now on, w... read more

Lol. I was thinking the answers we got here are like the answers you get when you straight up contact them personally. Those answers are the worse. I'm gonna be honest. These answers aren't bad really. It's just nothing we didn't already know because they've answered these quest... read more

I hate to say it, but let's all be real here. Hasbro and doesn't do those Q&As to get real info out. They do it because they think it makes people think that they care when they really don't. Can't you tell by the half baked answers? Of course they are not going to divulge any r... read more

We don't need to be throwing around insults to the people who give us their time so that we can be heard. Hasbro could just as easily pull this feature from us and we'd go back to not being heard at all. I'm not saying we should bow down to Hasbro or anything, but be mindful that this... read more

why do the people in charge of the "give us your questions" always pick the worst possible questions that almost nobody cares about. Why don't you pick the questions most people ask. next time let us vote on the top questions asked!

Again, yes and no. As I said above, asking better questions would help the issue, but Hasbro can give better answers. They just don't.
