Hasbro Buys Sunbow Media Licenses of Brands

By bwbm on Wednesday, May 14, 2008 @ 08:42:41 AM

Hasbro, Inc. announced today that they have purchased over 1,000 episodes of classic programming featuring some of the most established brands, including G.I. Joe and Transformers.

These properties were produced by Sunbow back in the day and were most presently owned by TV-Loonland.

"As we deliver new immersive entertainment experiences to audiences worldwide, it was extremely important that we had the rights to fully control the usage of our intellectual properties," said Brian Goldner, Hasbro’s Chief Operating Officer.

This is fantastic news for fans. Hasbro now has control over the various Japanese G1 series. Here's hoping to a Headmasters DVD box set in the states!

this couldn't be better timed, I missed the original rhino dvds due to being a poor college kid, but now that I have a real job I decided to buy them up. I got season 1 and 2 part 1 last week. I swear hasbro must have just been sitting on this for the last few weeks just to screw with me.
