Hasbro to Reissue Transformers Commemortive Series G1 Optimus Prime and Soundwave

Hasbro is all over the G1 again, so much so they are bringing back some of their toys from the Transformers Commemortive Series that was oringally a Toy R Us exclusive line. Thanks to work from BBTS, we have new that the #1 Commemorative G1 Optimus Prime and the #2 Commemorative G1 Soundwave with Ravage & Laserbeak action figures are now available for preorder to ship next month in October. In terms of scale and aesthetic, the Gen 1 Soundwave blends pretty well with the Transformers Classics line. Gen 1 Soundwave stands almost the same height as Classics Megatron. The Soundblaster touch with the double-deep tape deck is a very cool added feature---just as is the presence of both Ravage and Laserbeak.

Overtly servile, emotionless, Soundwave is logic-driven. He monitors and records everything, even to the extent that he interprets brain waves, which makes him unpopular among his Decepticon cohorts. Since Soundwave remains in spy mode 100% of the time, his only real friends are his cassette warriors. Ravage is one of the more memorable cassette warriors, a sleek and cunning predator armed with hip-mounted rockets. Laserbeak marks malignant efficiency, his original profile citing his overall cowardly, scavenging method of reconnaissance.
