I-Gear WIP Volkwagen Beetle Bumblebee and Cliffjumper In Colors
bwbm - Monday, January 17, 2011

I-Gear has posted some images on their Facebook page to update us on their current work in progress, the scout-sized classic Volkswagen Beetle. We first learned about this new custom earlier this month. The images show off the yellow Bumblebee version as well as the red Cliffjumper version in both vehicle and robot mode. Take a look at the images in the gallery.

That's because they bootlegs. No new engineering, no improvements, just changing the vehicle parts to look like a Beetle.

These pieces of crap are up for pre-order. $18.00 each or $30 for the pair. (link)

It looks like the same figure to me, apart from making him more Beetle-like. It looks like it transforms exactly like the official Legends class. Remold may not be the right term, but this is obviously based on the Hasbro mold. If they hand made some functional change, I'd be tempted, but as is... read more

That robot mode is disappointing. I'll pass on this. What happened to the other mold that was a modern VW Beetle? Is this that same mold, but they decided to make it the classic Beetle instead?

If only they could have come up with better looking and more articulated arms, I would have gotten it. But the field is still open. Someone out there do a new deluxe size Bumblebee/Cliffjumper that transforms into an old style beetle and I'd love to get it.

Mr Elljay has a nice sampling of the displays of various other third party groups. Garatron has a color sample of Thunderstorm, their IDW-inspired Thunderwing, plus apparently two different Unicron prototypes. Planet X showed off a color sample of their Voyager size Fall of Cybertron Optimus, and Master Made has an SD style Scorponok that seems more than slightly inspired by the design of Pandinus! There's that and more to see in the album of mirrored photos - check it out below!
We've got new photos of Planet X's take on Fall of Cybertron Starscream tonight. Shared on Weibo by FaithfulTF, the roughly Voyager size figure tries to capture the details of the game model in a bit different way than the official Deluxe toy did a few years ago. Along with that, it features a large array of accessories, including what most every Starscream anymore ends up with: a crown. Is this something that has a place in your collection? Let us know, and check out the photos mirrored below!
Thanks to Mr Elljay who has shared via Weibo a series of photos from an event happening in China where third party groups are showing off their wares! First up is a display from Toyworld, featuring a big Optimus Prime-alike, one of the myriad takes on Springer in the Masterpiece scale, plus back shots of a new Kup, and an Orion Pax using the same base mold. This is just a start to the new images we have coming through tonight, so click through to go ahead and get started on these!
Andrew Green on Twitter has gotten hold of an early sample of KFC Toys' Simba, an unofficial Victory Leo designed to complete the official Masterpiece Star Saber. These photos give a good overview of each mode, as well as showing off the combinations with Star Saber - a fusion which is said to weigh a full 4 pounds and amazingly can hold itself together! And as for the size of Victory Saber combined... well, we'll let the pictures tell the tale, and you can find that and more below - keep reading!
MakeToys shared a look at a new prototype they're working on right now on their Facebook page. The figure codenamed Downbeat is a Jazz for their Re:Master unofficial Masterpiece style figure series. Though obviously still at a somewhat early stage, Downbeat shows a simpler style than most other unofficial efforts with this character, resulting in a cleaner look. Whether that simplicity will itself put some possible buyers off will come down to individual taste. Full features, as well as release date and price are to be determined. Keep reading to see the full size picture!
