IDW Reveal Transformers Vs Mars Attacks and The Rest of The World - Ghostbusters, KISS, Popeye, More

By Jack on Saturday, October 13, 2012

IDW have unleashed the details behind the Mars Attacks versus Transformers, and well, the pop culture world as the CBR exclusive article reveals. Chief guy at IDW, Chris Ryall, talks about the formulation of these alien publications that are landing on many a pop icon's front in addition to our buddies from Cybertron. Pairing with the little green men also include: Ghostbusters, Spike, KISS, Miss Fury, Opus, Popeye (yes, nothing is sacred), and others. The Transformers G1 era comic has Shane McCarthy and Matt Frank manning the guns, should be interesting.
"The 'Mars Attacks' property is a bit more insane than most of the licenses we have. There's lots of good carnage in there, so we thought it'd be fun if we could spin that into some of our other books that are more respectful properties. Normally in 'Transformers' you don't get the level of insanity of a 'Mars Attacks' comic. We thought it'd be fun to mash that all together."
...
Then we jump into the future with Transformers. We thought that one would be fun because we've got Shane McCarthy who did the epic 'All Hail Megatron' story for us coming back to do a big 32-page battle with Martians."

Alongside clear Optimus Primal, a loose G2 Groove has been listed on Ebay from the same seller who sold a near-complete G2 Stunticon set recently. Though Groove's intended existence in G2 has been documented before, the high-res photos with this auction may be the best look most people will ever get at this toy. The seller also notes he has a G2 Blades to be sold soon, but no other Protectobots, unfortunately. Keep reading to see all the images of the delightfully orange figure!
Once again, unreleased G2 figures are making their way to eBay. The Combat Hero Optimus Prime and Megatron are recolors of the super-articulated (for the time but still pretty darn good) 5" tall Hero Optimus Prime and Megatron figures with air-launching missiles. This blue color scheme was the inspiration for the G2 recolor of Laser Optimus Prime that appeared in the 2012 Ultimate Gift Set. Keep reading for photos, plus links to the auctions!
The Loyal Subjects have posted an image showing off Constructicon Scrapper from the upcoming third wave of their Transformers Action Vinyls. These little guys are about 3" tall and feature multiple points of articulation. Keep reading to see the photo!
The eyes of the world were watching San Diego Comic-Con International 2014 for major announcements and this year IDW Publishing took the stage to reveal an impressive array of projects that are coming soon! Behold, the cure for the post-convention blues. Read on to see details on Transformers vs G.I. JOE, My Little Pony, and more!
Thanks to Hong Kong group HKGTF, we have more images of Hot Toys' Starscream-Wearing Optimus Prime and Kids Logic's Mecha Nation Transformers! Worth mentioning are the SD Age of Extinction Optimus Prime and the power cables running to MN Starscream to keep his lights running.
