IDW Reveal Transformers Vs Mars Attacks and The Rest of The World - Ghostbusters, KISS, Popeye, More

By Jack on Saturday, October 13, 2012

IDW have unleashed the details behind the Mars Attacks versus Transformers, and well, the pop culture world as the CBR exclusive article reveals. Chief guy at IDW, Chris Ryall, talks about the formulation of these alien publications that are landing on many a pop icon's front in addition to our buddies from Cybertron. Pairing with the little green men also include: Ghostbusters, Spike, KISS, Miss Fury, Opus, Popeye (yes, nothing is sacred), and others. The Transformers G1 era comic has Shane McCarthy and Matt Frank manning the guns, should be interesting.
"The 'Mars Attacks' property is a bit more insane than most of the licenses we have. There's lots of good carnage in there, so we thought it'd be fun if we could spin that into some of our other books that are more respectful properties. Normally in 'Transformers' you don't get the level of insanity of a 'Mars Attacks' comic. We thought it'd be fun to mash that all together."
...
Then we jump into the future with Transformers. We thought that one would be fun because we've got Shane McCarthy who did the epic 'All Hail Megatron' story for us coming back to do a big 32-page battle with Martians."

The Transformers Game Facebook page has added the character trailer for Sideswipe today, following from the posting of the bio sheet and concept art pieces earlier this week. The video follows the usual format we expect now, cycling through Sideswipe's moveset as a car and robot, as well as giving an extended look at the "elevator" stage, fighting a group of Insecticons. You always get to hear a bit of the voice performance ...for better or worse. We've got screencaps, plus the embedded video, so click through to check it all out.
The Transformers Game Facebook page has updated once again, offering up a couple pieces of concept art for Sideswipe. Though not as detailed in to a development process as some of the prior reveals, these are nice pieces of clean lineart that reflect Sideswipe's appearance in the game and are still fun little bits of background to see. Keep reading to see both pieces of art!
We've seen all kinds of Transformers made from just about everything, not a toy. Somewhere, someone is always tinkering with a new idea and it seems this latest one takes the cake, literally! Thanks to Youtuber, russellmunro, who has posted this video from a 6 year old's birthday party featuring an Optimus Prime birthday cake that actually transforms. What a nice surprise! Read on to see the clip and a little behind the scenes on how it was done.
