IDW Reveal Transformers Vs Mars Attacks and The Rest of The World - Ghostbusters, KISS, Popeye, More

By Jack on Saturday, October 13, 2012

IDW have unleashed the details behind the Mars Attacks versus Transformers, and well, the pop culture world as the CBR exclusive article reveals. Chief guy at IDW, Chris Ryall, talks about the formulation of these alien publications that are landing on many a pop icon's front in addition to our buddies from Cybertron. Pairing with the little green men also include: Ghostbusters, Spike, KISS, Miss Fury, Opus, Popeye (yes, nothing is sacred), and others. The Transformers G1 era comic has Shane McCarthy and Matt Frank manning the guns, should be interesting.
"The 'Mars Attacks' property is a bit more insane than most of the licenses we have. There's lots of good carnage in there, so we thought it'd be fun if we could spin that into some of our other books that are more respectful properties. Normally in 'Transformers' you don't get the level of insanity of a 'Mars Attacks' comic. We thought it'd be fun to mash that all together."
...
Then we jump into the future with Transformers. We thought that one would be fun because we've got Shane McCarthy who did the epic 'All Hail Megatron' story for us coming back to do a big 32-page battle with Martians."

Hot Toys posted images to their Facebook of an articulated non-transforming version of G1 Optimus Prime that, for some reason, is wearing Starscream's wings. The Special Edition bonus part, a tradition of Hot Toys releases... is Starscream's severed head. The wings are removable however, and Hot Toys makes some very attractive, elaborate figures- so if you've been wanting a really big modern remake of Action Master Optimus Prime, you're in luck. First contact between Cybertron and Earth (as represented by GI Joe) didn't go so well. Second contact is coming... and it couldn't be any worse, right? "I Saw Three Ships" is written by Tom Scioli and John Barber, with art, colors, and lettering by Scioli. Continue to full review
No one can deny, Hasbro have been putting pedal to the metal rolling out a TON of new Transformers Age of Extinction products this year. According to the latest report from MarketWatch, Hasbro's Transformers sales increased 32% to bring a hefty $335.8 million in sales for the last quarter. This was backed up by strong sales for My Little Pony as well, but didn't help Hasbro meet Wall street expectations due to weak sales from games and pre-school products that are losing out to the mobile apps market. Read on for more details on Hasbro's latest earnings.
